Kid's head was hurting.

Her whole world was spinning.

Nothing was making sense...

Kid stood where she was, but where she was was literally... nowhere. There were no walls, she couldn't see the ground, and everything was just completely black. Kid looked around where she was, how was she walking on nothing?

"Hello?" someone called.

Kid turned to look for them, but she was alone. "Hey, Kid..." someone said.

Kid looked around frantically. "That's what they're calling you now, right? Kid?" whoever it was chuckled, "it suits you well."

Kid took in a gasp... "Dominick..." she breathed looking for him.

"How are you Kid?" he asked, she could practically see his smile.

"I... I'm looking for you..." she felt herself beginning to cry, "L-like I promised... but I can't find you. Is this really you, Dominick?"

He chuckled again, "yeah, Kid. It's me. Mind powers tend to be handy in situations like this," he informed, "looks like you've gotten yourself into some trouble, Kid."

Kid kicked the dirt, "it was my fault, I lost my temper," Kid informed.

"Do you like chess, Kid?" he asked.

Kid looked up and tilted her head; she didn't know what a chess was.

"It's a game," he informed, "A strategic game, I believe you'd like it."

A game?

"Would you like to play?" Dominick asked.

Kid looked around for him, "can I see you first?"

"If you win the game then you can," he informed.

Kid beamed and nodded, "yes please. I like games."

"You certainly do," he replied.

Kid felt something pick her up momentarily, she suddenly felt the distance. The distance below her either move or change, when she was placed on the ground she was standing on a chess board. There were odd figurines set up everywhere, they towered over her, and she felt like a little bug.

"The whole point of this game is to try and kill the enemy's king," Dominick informed, "you can think of our current situation as a game of chess," he informed as one of the pawns moved forwards. Kid, at first, jumped at the movement, but soon sent her's forwards with a gesture.

"Our current situation?" Kid asked.

"Kid... I apologise for never telling you about what those things are, what you are, I always thought it would be best if you didn't know," He informed, another chess piece moved, "but now you're getting thrown into something else, and I'll admit I didn't want you coming after me in fear this would happen."

"What would happen?" Kid moved another piece.

All of the pieces suddenly turned into people, some Kid knew, some Kid didn't. She looked around at them and smirked when she saw Neon, "hey, look, Neon's here."

Despite her saying his name, he didn't react to it.

"Neon is currently a knight," Dominick informed. Kid smirked at his position. "Kid, you and I aren't going to be seeing each other for a long while," he informed as one of his pieces moved. Kid frowned at this fact. "Kid, I left on my own accord in an attempt to protect you. Our lives are complicated compared to normal people of this world," he explained as Kid moved one of her pieces, "they don't understand you or me, they can't understand any of us. And they never will, they will try, but they won't be successful."

He moved another of his pieces, "but... you need to be careful who you trust, because not everybody has good intentions for you if you fall for their traps," to make his point, he took one of her pieces. Being humans, one pulled out a knife and swiped it across the pawn's throat. It was a gruesome scene as the pawn died and disappeared from the board. Kid went wide eyed and gasped.

"There will be other players who will try and control our game," he informed.

One of Kid's pieces moved without her aid, she turned and saw the King, played by Jason Traveller, had made the command.

"Some people may cheat." Kid watched as Dominick's Queen, played by some random girl, jumped over all of her pieces to attack one of Kid's.

"And some people who will sabotage our game as well, by using any dirty trick necessary." Neon suddenly started walking forwards and stood where the knight allowed him, but it was in the line of attack by one of Dominick's piece.

Kid went wide eyed as she started running for him, "Neon!" she squealed, she felt like she was on a treadmill, making no distance, making no progress, she watched as the Bishop raised whatever weapon he had and struck Neon down. Neon collapsed to the ground and laid motionless on the ground.

Kid squealed as if she had lost to real person, as if this wasn't in her mind, as if this wasn't some game of chess.

The pieces, the board and the attacks all disappeared, evaporated like rain falls. All that remained was Neon lying on the ground, his death obvious as blood started to seep around him.

Kid managed to make it to him, but collapsed to her knees and hung her head, her tears dripping from her eyes as she tried not to throw up. "And sadly, in our game Kid... everybody is disposable," Dominick informed, "and I'm sad to say, it might not be enemies that'll hurt him. This is a game we can't afford to lose. But I don't want to see you get hurt." Neon disappeared from the ground and remained standing upright, "you need to make Neon go away... or else by the end of this..." Neon disappeared, "will break him."

Kid went wide eyed at her situation. "What... what do I do?" Kid asked hugging her knees.

"Survive, be smart and find your way home," Dominick informed, "I promise... I'll come back to you."

Kid lifted her head and sniffed, "... no... I... I don't... I don't think you will."

Dominick remained silent for a while before adding, "Be careful, and be smart, my little panda. Just remember my warning." Neon was on the ground again.

Kid was trembling now as she felt someone stand behind her, but she could feel no physical body. "Hopefully see you soon," Dominick whispered in her ear as she felt him kiss her temple and disappear.
