Grace POV
December 14, 2014
Why can't anything stay perfect?
James and Emma told us yesterday that they were now a couple.
They are so perfect for each other.
Just as perfect as I thought Cody and I were, until we were too good to be true.
I walked into Cody's room when Emma was with James for lunch.
Cody was slumped over his bed with a brown bottle.
"Cody? Are you drinking?"
"Baby, don't you know how to knock? F*ck!"
"What the hell, Cody! Please tell me that you aren't still using drugs."
"Can't answer that question, babe," he said as he tried to come in for a kiss.
I could smell the alcohol on his breath.
I held up my hand.
"Stop. Don't call me babe."
"Aw. Babe, come on. Why don't we stay in bed, watch a movie or something."
I saw a tiny plastic bag on the ground. Little crystals were in it. I bent down and picked it up.
"Is this crack?!" I asked.
"Grace, I can explain."
"Are you f*cking kidding me? No, I don't want an explanation."
"I'm addicted, Grace. I can't help it!"
"You lied to me numerous times! 'Don't worry Grace. It's just to stay with you. I'm clean Grace.'"
"That wasn't lying."
"Then, what was it?"
He said nothing.
"You know what, Cody? I was wrong about you. You're a liar."
"Grace, come on."
"No! This isn't going to work, Cody. We're through."
