I watch as the three kids run across the wastelands. I want to let them go, let them run home to Chicago. But my role is crucial – I need to stay perfectly, undeniably in character. I sigh, before pointing and yelling.
"They're getting away!" I watch as Samuel, Hetta and Gar charge after them, their muscled legs pounding the earth. I keep a straight face as the trio drag the children back to the cart, this time binding their wrists and feet. Allie looks up at me beseechingly, and it's all I can do not to pick her up and place her on my lap. For thirteen, she's incredibly small. Still, I saw her run.
