"I am proud of her too. I'm glad you convinced me that we should watch after her. Since she's been here, it seems like she's changed the future. If she wasn't here, you wouldn't be here with me on several occasions. Melody wouldn't be here. Eri may not trust us like she does now if she didn't trust Y/N first." I said as I put my arm around him. I then paused to think, "How did she gain Eri's trust so fast?"
"Not even I know that. I was beyond surprised too."
Nearly two hours later there was a knock at the door. Since Sho was lying down now and asleep, I went to go answer it. Once I opened the door, I was beyond confused as to why Y/N would have a clone of herself over her shoulder. "Welcome back." I said as I stepped off to her side so she could walk in. She didn't move a muscle or say a word. I raised an eyebrow as I asked, "Do you want to come in or do you plan on standing out there all night?"
In an unusually emotionless, monotone voice, she said, "Yes, I will come in. Thank you." and walked entered in a stiff manner.
Once I closed the door behind her, I asked, "So...what's up with the clone?" She didn't say a word, all she did was drop the clone that was on her shoulder to the ground, resulting in a light thud that was loud enough to wake Sho. He then walked over to where I was standing and looked at Y/N who was staring right through us as if we weren't there at all.
"Y/N? You alright?" Sho asked in a concerned tone.
She then spoke in the same exact tone as before, "Hello, I am Y/N: clone number 01. I have been ordered to take Y/N: clone number 00 spot for the time being since Y/N: clone number 00 was injured during duty."
"You're the clone," Sho said before pointing down to the Y/N that was lying on the floor, "while that is the real Y/N?"
"Correct." she said in the same tone. It was honestly starting to creep me out since it didn't speak in any other tone than the one.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I was not ordered to reveal that information."
"Could you bring her to her room then?" Sho asked. The clone didn't answer, just stared right through us. He repeated himself again as he pointed to the real Y/N on the floor, "Could you bring her to her room?"
It then looked to the unconscious person who was on the floor before turning back towards us, "Yes, but I do not know of where the room is."
The clone picked her up by her arm and threw her over its shoulder somehow. I could tell that Sho was too tired to be dealing with this sort of game and so late at night. I was too, but I wasn't as tired as he was. "Can't you look into her memory?" Sho asked.
"Yes, I can do that."
"Then do that." he said as he was getting angrier and angrier as it went on.
It dropped Y/N off of it's shoulder as it looked up and looked into Y/N's memories. Both Sho and I didn't like seeing her being dropped like that, let alone twice. He was going to go and pick her up while the clone was searching her memory. Just as he made it to the stairs with her in his arms, I said, "Be careful."
"She's beyond light, she's like a feather. I could guarantee you that a stack of paper is heavier than her." he said as he made it to the landing.
"Still..." I then glanced over my shoulder to the clone that was still standing there, looking up. I whispered, "That thing is sort of creepy."
He whispered back, "It's the same exact thing as the real Y/N. How is it creepy?"
"It speaks in a monotone voice and it's so expressionless...Y/N may be expressionless from time to time, but it's not unsettling like that."
Just as we made it to her room, he stopped and debated whether we should put her in her bed or on the couch. He walked towards the spiral staircase as he whispered, "Suck it up." He laid her on top of the covers before taking off the boots that she was still wearing and setting them in an open shoe box that was in the corner. He then asked, "You've taken a medical course in the past, right?"
"Yeah?" I answered as he sat down on the floor.
He then motioned with his hand, "Well, go on then, see if she's alive since the clone won't tell us what happened."
"Fine." I sighed under my breath.
I went up to her and took her wrist to feel her pulse that way, but as soon as I felt how cold her skin was, I couldn't help but drop her hand out of shock mixed in with a little bit of fear. "What are you doing?" Sho said as he shot up and stood next to me.
My heart was racing as I said, "She's freezing cold."
"Did you feel a pulse?"
"N-no...it startled me for how cold she was."
I could tell that he had no more patience, so he grabbed her arm to try and feel her pulse. He too was shocked at how cold she was, but he kept a grip on her to try and feel for a pulse. I swear that we stood there for a good five minutes or more before he gently put her hand back down on the bed. He looked at me with discontent, no longer tired. I took that as a hint that something was gravely wrong.
"You can tell if a person's unresponsive...go get a flashlight and check her eyes er whatever it is you do." he ordered, "I wouldn't know what I'm looking for."
I figured that I shouldn't argue, so I nodded my head before starting down the spiral staircase and going off to find the specific flashlight just for that. The clone was still standing in the same place, looking up, so I slid past it to go get what I needed and to go back. It creeped me out even more as I realized how still it was standing. It was way too inhuman. Once I got back, I then did what Sho suggested. Of course, the first eye that I was to look at, the pupil was broke, so it looked like it was melting into the iris. I shuddered at the sight since the only time that I saw something like that was when someone had fallen from a very great height and that was many years ago. The other eye however was alright. I checked her eye and it happened to dilate. I was surprised since we couldn't feel a pulse, yet her eyes- well, eye- reacted as though she was alright and just asleep.
I looked to Sho with confusion since he was looking over my shoulder the whole time, so he saw what I was doing. "What could have happened?" he asked.
I shrugged my shoulders, "I'm not sure since nothing seems to be showing on the surface, so it's probably internal."
"What do you think could be wrong?" he asked as he thought about what the problem could be. We both stood there for a while in silence as we thought about an explanation for her injury. All of a sudden I noticed that Sho began to turn his head ever so slowly towards me. I looked to him quickly and noticed that he wore a grave expression and said in a matching tone, "Her heart."
I too then connected the dots and said in a whisper, "That's right..."
He then looked to her, "When we watched her fall from the sky, that must have been when her heart did something."
"Then when we saw her go back up is when the clone must have taken over." I added.
We then stood there for a minute or two as we watched to see if she was breathing (which she wasn't), before going back down to the main level and to relax a little.
