Chapter 90: Back to work

Start from the beginning

I began to walk off the train as he said with a smile still on his face, "See ya."

Once I was off the train I turned around to look at the train, I saw that Midoriya was waving, so I waved back as the train continued on to the next station. I then went out onto the street and walked the few blocks to the station. When I made it into the nice, air conditioned building, I brought my body temp back to normal as I walked to the front desk.

"Hello, young miss; what can I help you with?" the woman at the desk asked.

I brought a sloppy smile to my face so I wouldn't seem rude as I asked, "Is the chief in?"

She looked to her computer for a few seconds before looking back to me and saying, "Yes, he is. He may still be in a meeting, though he should be done by now."

"Thank you." I said before walking through the cubicles of desks that led up to his office.

I knocked on the door and waited for approval to enter. I waited a few more seconds before knocking again, this time there was an answer.

"Come in." said the muffled voice on the other side.

I slowly opened the door, walked in, and closed the door behind me. The chief was sitting at his desk looking at a piece of paper, then quickly looking to his computer monitor, then to a tablet and tapping a few things before starting that cycle over again. I stood behind the chair as I waited for him to pause what he was doing. When he got to a point in his work that he was able to take a rest, he shut off the tablet and looked to me.

"Well, what are you doing here, Blank? I thought you were still recovering?" he asked with a smile.

I smiled nervously as I said, "Yeah, I thought I would have been too right now, but I'm fully healed."

He then remembered about the intruder, "Oh yes, that's right, how could I forget? That reminds me that I should tell you something..." He opened a large drawer on his desk and began to file through papers, looking for a certain paper. As he looked at papers and put them back, he motioned to the chair, "Have a seat, you don't need to be standing."

"Thank you." I said as I took up the offer.

After a minute of looking through files, he held up the one he was looking for. He closed the drawer as he said, "Of course, the one I'm looking for is the last one I look at." He laid the file on his desk and opened it, then passed me a paper. I took it to look at it as he asked, "I'm sorry to bring this up and I know you don't want to deal with this anymore, but I was wondering if you'd be able to help?"

"Well, what is it you need my help with?" I asked in response.

"It has to do with the mission before with that kidnapper." he said.

I looked down as I shook my head with a sigh. I looked back up to say, "I can't refuse, can I?"

"Well, it's not mandatory that you help with going in again, but information would be appreciated if you can provide it." He said, helping me a little with not dealing with it again to a certain extent even though I had a feeling I never had to think about it, but now I do.

I thought about whether I should help or not. "I'll help; what information do you need?"

"Thank you." He pulled another paper out of the file and handed it to me as he began. "As you know, you killed the criminal again during the mission, but it turns out that he's back again, and faster than the first time. We don't think that he has the powers to come back to life now, though the first time there is a high chance that he truly did reanimate himself, but not this time. We think that he may have clones of himself-" He handed me another piece of paper, and this one was the first page of All for One's file. "with a little help from the League of Villains. The intruder from a few days ago said something about what he described as, 'this one potato looking dude' helping his boss, which is the kidnapper. We were able to get more information out of him and it turned out that he got help from the League of Villains leader. Now, we've tried to get information from him, All for One, but he would not talk. So, this is where you come in; do you have any idea how he could come back so soon?"
