Laneene

As Laneene sat in her newly renovated kitchen the next morning, sipping on her sweetened coffee, she couldn't help but think about the events of her life since the fateful evening at that club. She could still remember the pain of having her wings cut, and she still felt phantom pains where they used to be.

Some things were easy to distinguish between real and a fake memory, but most were nearly impossible for her. Though she had her memories back, the ones that had been implanted were still there, being fed on by her inner demon. It created a kind of chaos in her, causing a war within herself that was only silenced when she was near Nybbas.

At the thought of her Mate, Lane couldn't help but smile. She hadn't told him about what was happening yet, she didn't want to bother him with it. He was already stressing over going into Hell and worried about whether she was going to be fully controlled by her demon once more. She could have sworn she saw a gray hair on his head, he didn't find it nearly as funny when she stated this.

She almost couldn't believe that he had comforted her last night, had actually held her and allowed her to cry on his shoulder. She hadn't been able to help herself, her brother had been right, she was being selfish by going back into Hell but she couldn't help it. She knew her eldest brother was alive, she couldn't leave him down there to be tortured any longer.

She had explained that to Nybbas last night, and he had listened and he seemed to understand. Of course they hadn't spoken much after that, because his wolf had won the battle and he had ended up kissing the mark he had left on her neck, which led to a more enjoyable topic.

Lane blushed at the thought, but the demon of pain craved more of it's Mate's touch. Guilt plagued her at the thought, it was hard to forget she used to be an innocent Angel who had never even heard about such things.

“How do you like the kitchen?” Luke said as he took the seat across from her, a can of soda in his hand. His blonde hair was disheveled and he had a 5'o'clock shadow covering his face.

“It looks amazing, much better than the original look.” She wasn't lying either, the kitchen was totally updated and renovated. Somehow last night they had managed to make her kitchen look perfect, without her even knowing. Not only the kitchen, but the entire apartment had been renovated over night, so Lane knew some type of magic was involved but she didn't know how.

“Nybbas was up all night, making sure we all stayed up to make this happen for you. He felt bad that him and Remiel had ruined it so... here we are.” Luke muttered, taking a drink from his soda and then belching.

Lane made a face at him, “Attractive,” she muttered sarcastically, causing Luke to grin his 1000 watt smile.

“Anything to please the ladies.”

“Not this lady, so turn that charm off and get back to your drink.” She sank back into the seat more, enjoying the plush seating of the chair. “Now, my next question is: did you stock the cupboards and fridge?”

“Of course darling, I know how much you need to eat. I also made sure there's yogurt and fruit in there. As well as some vitamins to keep yourself strong and healthy.” Life said as she walked into the kitchen, a beaming smile on her face as she looked at Lane.
