"Are you doing okay?" Colby asked me, as he took my hand and we sat in an oversized chair that was pushed into a corner of the room.

I nodded.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Nervous, a little scared, but okay."

Kat and Sam walked back into the room, hand in hand. Katrina looked at me with a nervous expression on her face.

"You sure you're ready for this? It's pretty intense and...well, it's unbelievable actually." She started to chew her bottom lip.

 I groaned.

"Everyone keeps hyping whatever it is up, making me more nervous than I already am. Can we just get this over with??" I was actually starting to get annoyed.

That tended to happen when I was stressing and I was seriously stressing right now.

She shrugged her shoulders and raised her eyebrows at me.

 "Fine...but don't say I didn't warn you."

Sam chuckled and led Kat to the bed. "She'll be fine...eventually."

I placed my tongue on my top teeth, staring at them. I kind of hated them right now.

"Okay, great, everyone is here. Tell me." I replied, looking towards Colby, and leaning back in the chair.

He let out a deep breath and nodded.

"Okay, for this to work, you have to open your mind to things that you wouldn't normally believe in."

I rolled my eyes. "I'm a writer Colby. I believe in everything."

 He looked shocked. "Seriously?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. Depends on what we're talking about I guess." I slapped his arm. "Just fucking tell me already!"

He laughed a little but the worried expression didn't leave his face. "I'm trying to. This is hard, and I don't know where to start."

Kat leaned forward on the bed. "Can I help?"

Colby glanced at her, then nodded.

"Please." I met her gaze and she smiled at me.

"Okay, do you remember in high school, when those silly preppy girls were into vampires and stuff?"

I scoffed. "You mean Jenny and her clique? 'Oh I wish he would bite me.' Yeah, I remember. What's that have to do with this?"

She just looked at me for a moment, then shook her head. "Do you remember how we made fun of them but we secretly agreed with them?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yeesss Kat, get to the point."

"Are you really that dense Chloe? Why else would I be bringing this up?" She stared at me, then pointedly looked at Sam and Colby. "Our childhood wish came true."

 I was confused.

"Wait, what are you saying?"

She rolled her eyes. "Oh my God, they are vampires! Real life vampires that drink blood. Right here. In this room. Sitting next to you. Probably wanting to drink your blood."

My brain wasn't comprehending what she was saying. That wasn't possible. I believed in a lot of things.

Hell, maybe vampires were real somewhere out there, but here? Sam and Colby? That's just...not possible.

They were pranking me. That was the only explanation...so I burst out laughing. So hard that I couldn't breathe.

Sam, Colby, and Kat were all looking at me like I had lost my mind while I wiped my tears.

"Are you okay?" Colby asked, with a concerned voice.

Oh he was a hell of an actor.

"I'm fine. That was a good one. How long have you been planning this? Can't have been that long because we just started dating." I shook my head. "Wow, you guys are good, I'll give you that. I almost believed it."

Colby placed his hand on my shoulder, and I turned to look at him. "Chloe...it's not a joke. Sam and I...the rest of the group except Devyn. We're all vampires. Think about it."

 I rolled my eyes again.

He was really going through with this.

"When have you seen us eat anything? We sleep half the day and stay up all night. I couldn't control myself around you at first. Sometimes still can't. Why do you think that is? Because I can smell your blood and it's the most delicious thing I've ever smelled in my life."

Is he serious right now? His blue eyes were burning into mine again, the weird silver ring that I noticed all of them had was pulsing around his iris...all of them had...except Devyn. Even Tara had the ring.

"You're serious? Are you fucking serious right now?" My breathing picked up, and I think I was starting to hyperventilate. "What? How? Huh?" I couldn't form any words, and I could barely speak past my short gaspy breaths.

"Calm down. You're fine. We aren't going to hurt you." His hands moved down on my arms, and I jerked away, my nightmare popping into my mind.

 I didn't mean to.

The hurt on his face had me wanting to take it back, but unfortunately I couldn't. It was too late. He removed his hands from me and scooted away.

"Chloe, it's okay." Kat got up and walked over to me, kneeling down in front of me. "It's fine. It isn't as bad as you think it is. They don't kill people for food. They're actually still the same people that you met before, just now you know that they drink blood. That's the only thing that's different. Well, that and the intense strength, speed, eye sight, and other random things." She turned her head to look at Sam, and I saw two little pin pricks on the side of her neck.

I jumped up so fast, she fell backwards landing on her ass on the carpeted floor.

I pointed at Sam.

"You-you bit her. She isn't thinking right. You bit her!"

I was close to crying. I was freaking out. This wasn't real. It couldn't be real.

Kat jumped up, and grabbed me in a tight hug.

"I'm thinking fine. I let him. It's complicated, but if you would sit down and shut up, we can explain it. Please."

My whole body was shaking.

How was this real? Fucking vampires? Leave it to me.

The one guy that totally destroys the walls that I had built around my heart is a mythical demon creature that wants to eat me...just my luck.
