XANDAR. 2014
ZARIA was disappointed in the Guardians' fight against Ronan. She was currently on his ship, listening to Lyra ramble on about how dangerous this was.
"You need to forget about the orb Jenkins, seriously. I don't think having the reality stone will do you much good against the power stone," Lyra said in a panicky tone.
"Shut up Swai, I'm listening to Ronan."
"The orb is in my possession, as I promised," Ronan said to Thanos, Zaria narrowing her eyes at Thanos.
"Bring it to me."
"Yes, that was our agreement. Bring you the orb, and you will destroy Xandar for me. However, now that I know it contains an Infinity Stone, I wonder what use I have for you," Ronan said with a smirk.
"Boy, I would reconsider your current course." Thanos was gone after that Zaria's eyes widened.
"Master! You cannot! Thanos is the most powerful being in the universe."
"Not anymore," Ronan said, placing the orb in his hammer. "You call me 'boy'! I will unfurl 1,000 years of Kree justice on Xandar, and burn it to its core! Then, Thanos, I am coming for you."
"Swai, Ronan knows of the infinity stone, he's gonna destroy Xandar for Kree justice."
"Oh please, my people are evil, taking over planets and killing the Skrulls, Jenkins. You need to stop him, take the stone."
"I don't think that's going to work, even with the reality stone I can't beat the power stone," Zaria whispered, turning around and speed walking towards the nearest exit.
"Zaria Jenkins if you don't turn your butt back around I'll report you to the Corps and get you back in prison!" Zaria frowned, slowly turning around and walking back towards Ronan and Nebula. As she came back, she came to a halt when she heard Nebula speak.
"After Xandar, you are going to kill my father?" Nebula asked.
"You dare to oppose me?" Ronan responded, Zaria gulping in fear. While the women might seem like a brave badass, she was terrified of many things. Her confident persona was just that, a persona.
"You see what he was turned me into. If you kill him, I will help you destroy a thousand planets," Nebula stated.
"Swai, what do I do? Swai!" Zaria exclaimed in a whispered panic causing her chairwoman to sigh in frustration.
"Go and get the orb! You can fight them, now do it!" Lyra shouted, Zaria jumping. She put her hand out in the open, using the reality stone to turn Nebula and Ronan into puddles. Running over to the power stone, she used her water ability to pick it up, placing it in her wristband.
"I've got the stone Swa—" That was all Lyra heard from Zaria as the brunette was knocked out from behind by some of Ronan's minions.
"Jenkins! Jenkins, come in! Zaria!" Lyra shouted in worry. There was nothing she could do, Zaria was out cold. Ronan and his minions took the power stone back then threw her out of the ship. Unconsciously, the anti-hero Aqua used her powers to protect herself while falling.
ZARIA regained consciousness when she heard Rocket's voice. Everything was a blur for a few seconds before Zaria came to see nearly everything around her destroyed. Ronan's ship had crashed to the mainland and destroyed many things. Zaria lifted her head up, finding Rocket holding onto a stick.
"I called him an idiot," he cried while holding the wood chips from Groot's body. Zaria began to stand up, stumbling over to Rocket.
"Rocket! What happened?" She asked, the raccoon's eyes widening when he saw Zaria, someone he assumed to be dead. Before Rocket could reply, Ronan came out from his ship.
"Behold! Your guardians of the galaxy. What fruit have they wrought? Only that my father and his father shall finally know vengeance. People of Xandar, the time has come to rejoice and renounce your paltry gods! Your salvation it at hand," Ronan exclaimed before getting distracted by Quill. He began dancing and singing to stop the action of Ronan who wanted to destroy Xandar and to give time to Rocket who was secretly making weapons to shoot Ronan. Zaria, not realizing what Rocket was doing, stared at Quill oddly.
"Listen to these words. Now bring it down hard!" Quill sang, both Zaria and Ronan looking at him in shock.
"What are you doing?"
"Dance-off, bro. me and you," Quill said, glancing over at Gamora and Zaria. "Gamora." He invited her to dance but she shook her head. "Subtle. Take it back." Zaria looked over at Rocket, expecting a comment about how stupid Quill was being but instead she saw him building a weapon of sorts.
"Room for one more?" She asked, joining Quill in his dancing, both of them doing a horrible job. Zaria grabbed Quill's hand, spinning around and getting dipped.
"What are you doing?" Ronan asked.
"We're distracting you," Zaria started before getting cut off by Quill.
"You big turd blossom," he said. Drax and Rocket fired to the orb then Quill captured the stone that had come out from Ronan's weapon. Zaria reached for Quill, grabbing his shoulder. All she could think about was taking that stone from him, but she couldn't.
"No! Peter! Take my hand!" Gamora exclaimed. Quill held Gamora's hand while Drax grabbed ahold of Zaria's shoulder and Rocket held Drax's finger.
"You're mortal! How?"
"You said it yourself, bitch. We're the Guardians of the Galaxy," Quill told Ronan right before Ronan died.
ZARIA was furious when the Guardians decided to give the power stone to the Nova Corps. She was discussing how peeved she was with Drax, explaining how it hurt that Gamora and Quill couldn't trust her.
"If you want the orb so badly, why do we not steal it from the Nova Corps?" Drax suggested.
"As along as you don't tell Star-Lame, Gamora, or Rocket. I can't risk them finding out I have it."
"That sounds fair Aqua. You are my best friend so I will lie for you," Drax said, making Zaria smile slightly. Excluding Lyra, Drax was the closest thing Zaria had to a friend. The two discussed their plan briefly, Zaria getting ahold of Lyra and letting her know of Drax's available help.
"Your friends have arrived. On behalf of the Nova Corps, we'd like to express our profound gratitude for your help in saving Xandar. If you will follow Denarian Dey, he has something to show you," Nova Prime announced as Drax and Zaria met up with Rocket, Gamora, and Quill
"Thank you, Nova Prime." Gamora went over to Drax while Zaria stood next to Rocket, placing a hand on his shoulder, trying her best to comfort the raccoon after losing his best friend.
"Your wife and child shall rest well knowing that you have avenged them," Gamora told Drax. He locked eyes with Zaria before replying.
"Yes. Of course, Ronan was only a puppet. It's really Thanos I need to kill."
"Looks like we'll have a lot of work to do," Zaria said to Drax.
