011: The Silk Merchants

They entered the cave before dawn, while the giant spiders slept.

Their lantern cast a feeble light, but it glinted off metal in the webs: the undigested armor and weapons of foolhardy adventurers. Uncle smiled and tied a rope to his niece's waist.

Slowly and silently she climbed onto the webs, barely moving them. With a deft stroke she cut the goods free and tied them to the rope. Then the knife slipped from her grasp. It tumbled through the dark and landed in a spider's belly.

As they fled the cave, she decided farming wasn't so bad after all.
