When it was discovered that the last ice shelf was about to collapse, the world responded much as they had to the escalating ecological disasters. Some claimed the evidence was false, some on the coast finally pulled up stakes and moved inland, and some did the former, while scooping up any real estate they could before the later moved in. What surprised the scientists was the gathering of boats congregating near the last remaining icebergs.
"What are these people doing?" One of them asked. "Don't they know they will collapse any day?"
"They're counting on it," another said. "They're surfers."
