On the first of the month, they put up new billboards. Olaf watched the bots hang a big one while his taxi idled. The Pantages was doing a new production of King Lear.
The car was autodriving, but marketing said having a person behind the wheel raised passenger confidence 57%. What a bullshit statistic, he thought. The navigation system was completely perfect. He'd invented it before they pushed him out of the company and litigated his patent to nothing.
The dash pinged and the taxi moved towards its next fare. Just as well, Olaf thought. He'd always hated King Lear.
