The howl made the dog's ears stand on end. It dashed through the snow and saw the werewolf, all eight feet of tooth and claw towering over the petrified villager.
It leapt in front of the massive beast and snapped at its ankles, yapping. To the villager's surprise, the monster backed away. He took the opportunity to flee, never wondering where the strange dog had come from.
The dog growled as it stalked after the werewolf. He was constantly reminding the boy to blend in, and not to bother the humans. He was really going to get it this time.
