Chechi Nikash

She rode into town

Hair blowing in wind

She sang a song

Of the indian kind

She wore no hat, no boots, no skirt

She wore just leather pants and shirt

Her eyes were darker than the night

Her soul, though, shining light and bright

She rode ahead, to the saloon

She entered, plodding on Racoon

Her loyal friend in joy and harm

Not helpful hand, but helpful arm

Racoon, her horse, was strong and good

No matter nice or bad the mood

When she entered someone whistled

But Chechi Nikash, she bristled

She hated men, she hated love

She disliked braves and hate and wars

She went to bar, ordering a drink

When she saw somebody blink

She smiled at him, and he smiled back

Thinking though "Oh, what a heck"

She hated men, she hated love

She disliked braves and being a dove

A weak and tiny, little girl

No brave, no man, no, not at all!

But just a girl, a pretty one

Which fast could carry out her gun

With bow and arrow, fast not less

And feathers woven in a tress

An indian girl, a pretty one

That fast could carry 'round a gun

Chechi Nikash, her household name

(Through Texas it had quite a fame)

Was close connected to such words as

The beauty, that the hunting does

Just as good as braves and men

That always had much time to train

The indian girl that hated love

That hated to be such a dove

To be a girl, a pretty one

But could fast carry 'round her gun
