Chapter Twenty-One: Elemental Training {Part 5}

Ichigo woke up in the familiar inferno world. Vollumina beside him, lying down and looking out at the world. He also notice that the lakes and rivers were actually lava and many other creatures of Vollumina's kind where there. Leaping and playing in the lava like kids at the beach.

"Well...this world still needs some work."

Vollumina rolled her eyes. How a wolf could, he had no idea.

"So what should I do?"

"You are going to walk through this world, that you have oh so criticized that it needs work, all the way to the volcano. There you will resonate with the Ele Orb of Flames and grow stronger. Not only that you will make it official that you are ready to be the orb's Guardian."

Ichigo sighed. He still hasn't come to terms of not returning to the world he has knew for most of his life. Sure, he can bring his wife and family with him but he would have to leave the rest of his family and friends behind. However, he knew that they would want him to save a realm that was in more danger than here. Uryu has made that clear to him before that he was a good father just as much as a protector. Orihime would of also chosen to save a realm that needed her more than one that has enough protection as it is.

With sigh but one of determination, Ichigo jumped off the cliff side. He ended up landing on a sleeping Kurt-Enjerdha, who looked at him curiously but went back to sleep.

"Sorry about that buddy," Ichigo whispered before jumping off it's back and continuing on his way.

Running through flames, he ran all the way to the volcano where the Orb of Flames was waiting for him.

As she watched him leave, Vollumina sighed sadly.

"He is going to be mad," she said.

"Well if I'd had told him,  he would of thrown a sissy fit," Zangetsu replied.

"He is going to be even worse once he finds out what was done."

"Volly, he is a grown man now. Coddling him would do nothing, trust me. He's a stubborn but determined man."

"I can see that, but that doesn't mean he won't mourn for you."

Zangetsu went silent at that. He understood the sacrifice, he could only hope that Ichigo understood too.

"He is an adult now, he'll be well."

Vollumina shook her head softly. Just then a blast of fire went through the air like a supernova. It was the signal that Ichigo and the orb resonated with each other. The Queen Kurt-Enjerdha couldn't watch as the zanpackuto began to fade away into black ashes.

"Promise, Vollumina."

She whimpered but said the words, "I will protect him to the bitter end, it's our destiny."

Zangetsu nodded and disappeared completely. His ashes spreading in the air as a reminder of his passing and being. Vollumina gave out a mournful howl.

Their fates have been sealed in flames and stars.
