~ Let's learn How to "Count Numbers" in Korean ^^ Part 3

Now that we know the Sino-Korean and Native-Korean way of counting, the next question is.... how will we use it in "saying our age, telling time, counting people, things, animals, days, months and so on..."

So... Here we go.

** Counter **

~ Age (나이 - Na-i) ~ in age, Native or Pure Korean is used. ~ 살 (sal) is the age counter.

If you are let's say 13 years old. As it was discussed in the previous parts, 13 in Native Korean is 열셋 (yeol set). So how are we going to say the age with it? In 열셋 we will remove the 'ㅅ' on 셋 and add the word '살'.

So it will be '열세 살', and to say that you are 'thirteen years old' already, you'll say: ~ 저는 열세 살입니다. (jeo-neun yeol-se sal-imnida) ~ I am thirteen years old.

Question: But how about if "I am 26 years old already?" how will I say it?

Answer: Same process. As it was indicated that 20 in Pure Korean is 스물 (seu-mul) and 6 is 여섯(yeo-seot). ~ 스물 + 여섯 = 스물 여섯 ~ 저는 스물 여섯 살이에요. (jeo-neun seu-mul yeo-seot sal-i-e-yo.) (I am twenty-six years old.)

~ When asking a person's age? 몇 살입니까? (formal form) (myeot sal-imnikka?) 몇 살이에요? (polite form) (myeot sal-i-e-yo?) = How old are you?

~ When answering, it should be: 저는 _____ 살입니다./이에요. (formal) 나는 _____ 살이에요.(polite) = I am/I'm ____ years old.
