Grammar

1. ~요. '~요' is a polite, informal verb ending. Both questions and statements can end with '~요' in Korean. They are differentiated only by intonation.

A verb can be a complete sentence in Korean.

가요? (questionable way - the ending tone goes a bit high) 가요. (statement way - the ending tone goes a bit down.) 가 - means 'go'

만나 - means 'meet, see, encounter, come across...' 만나요? (question form) 만나요. (statement form)

2. ~세요? '~세요?' is more polite than '~요?'. It implies respect of the speaker for the subject of the verb.

The answer to '~세요?' is not '~세요.' but '~요.' when referring to the first person.

가세요? - Do you go? 가요. - I go.

만나세요? - Do you meet (him)? 만나요. - I meet (him).

3. ~세요. '~세요.' means 'Please do. -' when referring to the second person.

When referring to the third person, '~세요.' is just a polite ending.

가세요. - please go? 가요. - (He) go.

만나세요. - Please meet (him). 만나요. - (She) meets (him).
