DAY FIFTEEN - TODAY I AM GRATEFUL FOR MY HEALTH.
Today I am grateful for my health. Turning 50 this year has gotten me really thinking about my health and making sure I stay healthy for as long as possible. I am blessed to be at a stage in my life that I am free to peruse my dreams, but that can't be done if I do not pay close attention to my health.
I have been at death's doorstep three times in my life, two of those times have been in the last 10 years. Both times when I recovered the doctors were astonished at how healthy I actually was, even though I was very over weight. I do not have any of the co-mobilities that normally come with being obese; high blood pressure, COPD, diabetes, high cholesterol, I have none of it, thank God. But I do understand that it will not always be that way if I do not do something about it. So this year I decided I would change my lifestyle and lose weight, and I have done that. I still need to lose quite a bit more but I am on my way, I am actively working toward a better me.
I know how lucky I am to be as healthy as I am and I am so grateful for it. I want to live long enough to see my grandchildren grow up and maybe even see my great-grandchildren. I have so much more I want to do in my life and as I get older, time has become an ever present icon of our limitations. We have a finite amount of time here in this life and I want to make sure mine is as long as possible.
