"New case?" Hoseok glanced up as Hyunwoo tossed a file on his desk.

The other male nodded. "Well, you're the best. Everyone thinks if you can't solve it, no one can."

Hoseok fought back a smile. His boss wasn't wrong. He was the best detective in the whole agency. Time and time again he proved to Hyunwoo that even if he slacked off, he was a genius. His job was always secure even if he skipped work or fell asleep at the desk. He had an IQ of 168, anyone would pay him thousands of dollars just to work for a day.

Hoseok ran his hand through his black hair and opened the file. He scanned it.

The contents was ridiculous.

#446

Recent murders in the Seoul area.

Victims: 12 ; all males in their 20's.

Evidence: A piece of cloth ; no finger prints or DNA has been found.

There was absolutely nothing for Hoseok to go on.

"You're kidding!" He lifted up his head and met eyes with his boss. "You want me to chase after Seoul's #1 serial killer!? This guy doesn't mess around! I can do thieves or a simple homicide, but you're insane if you want me to do this."

Hoseok tossed the file back at Hyunwoo, but the taller simply picked it up and placed it on the desk.

"No, I'm not kidding. Get your ass in the field and catch me a serial killer." Hyunwoo turned away and left the detective's office, leaving him to think.

It wasn't going to be an easy task. The serial killer didn't seem to leave any sort of finger prints. They didn't even have much proof it was the same guy. Every victim was killed in a different way. The only thing that tied them together was a note on each grave once the family finally burried the body.

Every note was different. They all were typed; there was no evidence to lead to the killer. Some had quotes from famous people, some had random comments, and some just had numbers. It didn't make much sense to Hoseok why they would leave notes. One mistake and they could pinpoint the killer.

The only problem was the killer had yet to make a mistake besides a damn piece of cloth.

He slammed his head against the desk and pushed the file on the ground again.

Most of the agency had been working on it for a few weeks before they called Hoseok in. They had gotten no where, so Hoseok really was their last hope.

"Okay," he whispered to himself. "Let's get coffee, then I'll go to the scene of the most recent crime."

Hoseok pulled himself out of his chair and picked up the file.

"Minhyuk!" He called the name of his optimistic assistant.

The boy stuck his head in the door and hummed, asking what Hoseok needed.

"Drive me to the nearby coffee shop and then we'll go to the recent murder scene."

"Okay!" Minhyuk chimed.

Minhyuk led his boss outside and opened the passenger side door of the red car for him. Hoseok climbed in as he put large, black sunglasses on. Minhyuk sat in the driver's seat and flashed a smile at his boss.

"Wow, it's only 9 and we are already being productive! I'm proud of us!"

Hoseok rolled his eyes and chuckled. They weren't a productive pair. Some days they ditched and went shopping, other days they napped at Hoseok's house. No matter what, Minhyuk met every one of Hoseok's demands as his personal assistant. Hoseok liked keeping him around.

Minhyuk began to drive away while Hoseok watched Seoul from the car.

"Min?"

"Yeah?"

"What do you think would be a motive for killing a bunch of twenty year olds?" He asked.

Minhyuk glanced over for a second. "Motive? Maybe it's a woman who has something against men?"

Hoseok closed his eyes, thinking of Minhyuk's idea. Was someone trying to get revenge? He listened to the sound of the car, letting himself relax; he could deal with the problem when he had caffeine in his system.

Before he knew it, they were at his favorite coffee shop. Silently, Hoseok stepped out of the car and Minhyuk stayed.

Hoseok walked through the double doors and stepped to the counter. He frowned at the cashier. It wasn't someone he was used to. It was a tall, skinny boy with brunette hair. He was awkwardly standing there and didn't smile at Hoseok, something he was not used to.

"Um, where the hell is Kihyun?" Hoseok looked around for the familiar face.

Kihyun was Hoseok's close friend. The only reason he went to the specific coffee shop was to see Kihyun.

"Oh," the taller male whispered in a soft voice. "He's not working today. How can I help you?"

Hoseok wondered how such a soft spoken boy had the audacity to work with people. He was quite awkward, and he even refused to make eye contact.

"An americano." He handed him money, a bit too much. "Keep the change."

The male finally cracked a soft smile that made Hoseok feel like he was going to faint. No one stood in line behind him, so he decided to keep the conversation going while someone else made his coffee.

"I'm Shin Hoseok, what's your name?"

"Hyungwon," he whispered. "Hoseok...that's a pretty name."

The detective laughed at the male's awkwardness. He pulled a card out of his pocket and handed it to Hyungwon.

"I'm looking for another assistant, call me if you're interested," he flashed Hyungwon a smile.

Hyungwon bowed slightly. "Thank you."

It wasn't a complete lie. He needed someone to do his paperwork and someone to follow him out in the field, but he really liked Hyungwon and wanted to keep him around. Mostly, the taller male was pretty to look at, and Hoseok liked to change things up.

Minhyuk probably wouldn't mind.

"Here's your coffee." Hyungwon extended his hand to give it to Hoseok.

Hoseok took it. "Make sure you call me. I'll pay you more than you get here."

The brunette smiled and nodded enthusiastically.

Hoseok walked out the door and got in the car with Minhyuk. "Off to see a murder scene?"

"Seok, why did you give your buisness card to a stranger?" Minhyuk frowned.

"I need anothet assistant, Min. I can't overwhelm you with paperwork and field work, not when you stare at Hyunwoo half the time."

Minhyuk blushed. "I- I guess you're right..." He started the car. "So, you're really getting another assistant?"

"If I can. Isn't he pretty, Min?"

Minhyuk frowned. He just had a bad feeling, or maybe it was jealousy.
