Chapter 32 | If only if...

All of the sudden I heard the tune usually associated with the ice cream truck. I look over and see it and I immediately jump off. I landed balanced on my feet having done the move since I was a kid.

I waited for Annalise to get off who waited until she slowed down almost to a complete stop. Girls.

I grabbed her hand and dragged her with my on my jog to cold heaven.

"One vanilla scoop with caramel syrup for me, and a strawberry one with chocolate chips on top for the lady." I said handing a the worker a twenty dollar bill. twenty to the white dressed worker.

I handed Annalise the strawberry one and took a small bite of my vanilla and Caramel, walking over to a bench.Annalise followed and started eating her come too. So Izzi was right, good thing I listen to all the cute little kid's ranting.

I was getting kinda bored and awkward silence was never my thing so I decided to break it with the first thin that came to mind. "You count green and I'll count black." I said gesturing to the street not to far from us. Yeah, my parents made me watch UP with them the night before, Thursday nights were game nights mad Fridays were movies.

She didn't say anything at first, maybe the idea was too cheesy.
"Black one."

"Green one." Okay, maybe not.

"Black one."

I heard her sigh and say,"Green one." Maybe a little boring?

Well after I won of course, yeah I know I have her the rarer color but if she's the queen of indoor games I'll be the king of outdoor ones, even if I have to handicap.

Our counting cars game switched to us playing lava tag on the playground.

This was a better idea, especially since it made Annalise smile and laugh. I hadn't heard her do that in a while.

Her hair was out of her ponytail kind of braid and flowing around as she scurried up and across the wood structure. I was right behind her and for someone so small she sure moved fast. It reminded me of how fast she was in the hospital. At least this was a good reason for it.

While I was chasing her I felt a déjà vu kinda thing, like I had done this before. I shook off the feeling and concentrated on crossing the tire obstacle and going through the tunnel. I'd catch up with her if I was fast enough.

I was so close when I fell off the wooden swinging bridge. It wasn't too far up so I wasn't hurt but I had mulch all over me, especially in my hair.

Annalise thought this was funny and in a split second I grabbed a hand full of mulch and catapulted it at her. She just barely ducked out o the way but I would not stop till I had satisfaction.

"Jerkface." She mumbled running her fingers through her hair to get the mulch out.

I had to chuckle at the sight. "Oh come on Sweetcakes, fair is fair."

"I didn't make you fall. It's your problem if your ninja cat skills fail you, not mine."

"Ninja cat skills?" I don't know where she came up with that but it's hilarious.

"Yeah yeah laugh all you want-"

"Oh I will." I assured her
