You looked in front of you and saw your boyfriend Joe climbing up the hill. It was sunday afternoon and you and Joe had decided to go hiking, as it was your last day in LA before going back to London. You had been in LA for a couple of days as Joe had attended VidCon in Anaheim. You had the last day to yourselves and had decided to explore the hills around the house you were staying in with a lot of other youtubers.
"Let's go this way," Joe stated and turned onto a small path leading away from the main road.
"Are you sure about this?" you asked in doubt as Joe was quite good at getting lost.
"Of course I am. I'm always right, remember?" Joe answered and looked back at you with a big smile. You rolled your eyes at him with a smile.
"Yeah sure," you answered which made Joe chuckle before he waited for you so he could put an arm around you and place a gentle kiss on your cheek.
"I'm really happy you want to travel with me," Joe then said and looked at you with an admirably look.
"I love traveling with you," you answered, which made Joe smile.
"I'm also kind of awesome," Joe said with a cheeky smile before giving you a kiss on the lips. You shook your head with a laugh. He was such an idiot sometimes and he could always make you laugh.
After walking for another 30 minutes Joe suddenly stopped and started to look around with a confused look on his face.
"Are you lost?" you instantly asked but Joe shook his head.
"Let's go this way," Joe then said, trying to sound really convincing, which did not work for him.
"We're so gonna get killed," you stated and Joe couldn't help but laugh.
"Babe, I got this. Trust me," Joe said and you shrugged your shoulders.
"I do. That's the problem," you joked and you both laughed.
You continued following Joe who for sure was lost, but you didn't say anything. You only giggled sometimes behind him, just to annoy him a little bit. The bushes around you started to get more firm and it became harder to walk on the little path, which wasn't really a path anymore but just a few pebbles here and there.
"Ehm Joe? I didn't want to say anything but it's kind of hard to walk through these bushes," you said just as a branch hit you right on your forehead, which Joe saw and he started laughing.
"I'm sorry babe, come here," Joe said with a laugh and he tried to clear the path for you so you could walk through easier. A clearing suddenly appeared in front of you and you both sighed in relief.
"Thank God, I thought I was gonna get an eye poked out," Joe said and you looked at him with a laugh.
"So you are lost, huh?" you asked with a cheeky smile.
"I never said that," Joe said whilst pointing a finger at you and you grabbed his finger with a smile.
"You're dumb," you said with a smile and Joe smiled back before giving you a gentle kiss on the lips.
"But you still like me, right?" Joe asked with a big smile and you nodded with a smile before giving him a deep kiss. Joe suddenly looked behind you and his eyes widened.
"Wow, look at that setting!" Joe exclaimed and you instantly turned around and the most beautiful view appeared in front of your eyes. You had arrived at a high cliff overlooking a light green valley with small lakes running through the trees. Opposite the cliff you were standing on, another cliff with a big waterfall rose majestically from the ground.
"It's amazing," you said astonished as you felt a pair of arms wrap around your hips. Joe put his head on your shoulder before giving you a kiss on your jaw.
"Can we agree that getting lost lead us to something beautiful? Even though we're not lost," Joe said with a soft voice and you couldn't help but laugh.
"Yes Joe, I am very impressed with your getting-lost-skills," you said whilst turning around in his arms so you were now looking into his blue eyes. You looked each other in the eyes in silence for a little while before Joe broke the silence.
"I really like you, you know," Joe said and left a kiss on your nose, which made you giggle.
"I kind of like you too, you know," you answered and you both smiled before Joe kissed you deeply. After being together for 1,5 years, Joe could still give you butterflies.
