Chapter 16: Mission Impossible

Your POV

Two words. Mission. Impossible.

Near won't smile, for heaven's sake, Not even one!

I tried everything. Tumblr, memes, jokes, anime and yet he hasn't changed his facial expression for even a second.

I sighed loudly. Not even my jokes made him smile or laugh at my cringe-worthy tries.

I guess that means we have a different definition of fun. Here I go, watching anime while he plays with his 'toys' all day.

But that means he doesn't get to relax because every time he gets his hands on his toys, every time he eats or every time he stays silent. His mind doesn't stop thinking about the Kira Case.

So now, I need to get him to relax first. I can worry about making him smile after it.

"Hey Near," I said as I paused the anime. We're currently watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. He looked at me quietly with a questioning look on his face.

"Can you stop thinking about the Kira Case for even a day? You'll stress yourself too much." I said. When I looked closely, I noticed the forming eye bags under his eyes. Representing his sleepless nights.

"Then 24 Hours would go to waste." He replied.

"But you're stressing yourself. You won't be able to think more clearly if you do." I argued.

"There isn't much time. Who knew what Kira had already done." He argued back. You frowned. Nope, you don't plan on backing out, and he doesn't either.

"Let's say he did something already. With your sleepless nights and stressful mind, you won't be able to think of a proper solution." I said.

"I can. I am determined to see Kira- or in this case, Light Yagami's downfall." Near said. So he knows who Kira is huh?

"Near, we all know that determination alone cannot defeat Kira. Yes, you're determined, but what can you do against him with a stressed state of mind? Even if you look so blank-faced and monotone, I know there are a lot of thoughts racing your brain." I replied to him. This applies to both of us, my determination to expose Kira along with the SPK is strong, but right now what can I do for it? Nothing.

"Alright." A small mumble came from him.

"What?" I asked. Is he giving in already?

"Do you want me to change my answer?." He asked.

I smiled brightly at Near and hugged him. Which he took by surprise. Near immediately stiffened under my touch, he should get used to hugs more often.

I let go, still smiling brightly. I fist pumped in the air and continued the anime. "Focus this time alright? We've got 24 hours ahead of us."

So uhm. When I told him to focus. He really did focus.

He predicted everything. There were some few errors here and there but he managed to do something very unacceptable for an anime-lover like me.

He spoiled it.

Red. All I see is red.

Ah Near, You've met a terrible faith, haven't you?

"This character, he's envious of humans. That's his name, right? Envy? It makes sense that he is a shape-shifter, after all, he can basically shape-shift to anyone/anything he's getting jealous of. This is why he probably will..." Near started rambling about a character named 'Envy.'

And then the predictions go on and on.

"People like this other guy over here will die soon." He continued to spoil as I silently raged.

"Called it."

"He can't kill someone who looks like his own wife. He could've just got over the fact that Envy shapeshifted into his wife. Oh, but then it's so hard to kill a Homunculus."

"Sooner or later this girl named 'Winry' will realize she loves Edward."

"This guy isn't a traitor. He's just pretending to be one."

"Oh, this guy over here will-" Near got cut off by me.

"Can you just shut the hell up?!" I screamed at him. How dare he. He's spoiling the entire series!

"Mhm?" He said, looking at me.

"You're spoiling the damned series!" I exclaimed.

He smirked at my reaction. He finds this amusing huh? Yeah?!

"For once, I saw you raging like that over a pointless matter." He snickered.

He snickered. He smirked.

I would've been frozen with that fact by now if it wasn't for my child-like rage. For the love of Kira, he spoiled the anime!

Meanwhile...

Near told Gevanni that in the case of any emergencies, he should install cameras in everyone's room. Since Y/N was new, they forgot to do it and they never considered the fact since. So now, Rester, Gevanni, and Halle are all shocked to the core with what they're seeing in Near's room.

"Guys, this is privacy." Gevanni nervously stated.

"Eh, we all have cameras installed in our rooms." Rester finally found his voice.

"Look! It's the first time we saw Near smirk or snicker!" Halle said.

"I ship them." She continued.

"Same," Gevanni replied.

"Yeah. They look cute together." Rester said. Gevanni and Halle looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"Cute? It's funny how you sound saying that word." Gevanni said as he laughed hard.

"Oh shut up! But seriously, Y/N is the only one who can make this emotionless guy smirk. Does that mean Near likes Y/N?" Rester said.

"It's a huge possibility," Halle said after the fit of laughter.

"I guess. We should get back to work, though." Rester said.
