Chapter 15: Her memories, Lost. New moments, Found.

I remember everything now

Well not really 'every-single-thing.' More like I remember some bits of my past. I can't believe I lost all of those memories! Why didn't my parents inform me of this?

Basically, the only clear things I can remember is that Mello and Matt are my childhood friends. They both are living in an orphanage nearby our home called Wammy's House. We were all really close, then one day my parents decided to move. While on our way, the car we're riding crashed with another. It made me lose my memories of the past.

Did my mom and dad lose their memories too? There's a possibility to it. I suddenly remembered a boy my age that time, who is he? Oh damn, do I have a brother of some sort? Where is he now then? It looks like I'm not getting answers anytime soon.

Damn, I never knew I had lost memories. I think it somehow connects to my previous strange dream. The one with the shinigami saying 'we met before' or something.

Speaking of shinigami, where's Dan?

"I see you're awake." A monotone voice stated. My head snapped to where it came from and of course, it had to be Near. I didn't feel the need to respond so I just kept my eyes on the ceiling.

"Did you remember something? A flashback or perhaps a lost memory?" Near asked straightforwardly. Had he thought that conclusion already? I guess there's no point in lying.

"Yeah," I mumbled quietly, but at least it can still be deciphered.

"Called it." He replied. "You passed out for exactly 6 hours and 11 minutes," Near added, I heard the clank of cards. He must be building a card tower or something, how did he even keep track of the exact time, I'm not even surprised anymore.

"Can I go to my room? It's so cold here." I asked him. I wonder why his room is so cold.

"Alright. I'll ask you about your memories, later on, I observed your reaction when I showed a picture of Mello a few days ago. I should say, it's kind of suspicious. I detect a feeling of familiarity in your reaction too." Near trailed off. Oh gosh, why would he even observe how I would react? He's like observing everyone without even looking at them. Or his actions were just too fast?

"But right now, more important than that," He continued as I stood up. There are card towers built around the place.

"Is that if you knock over my tarot card tower, I'll be pissed." His monotone voice said. I was surprised at his words but I also found it a bit funny. How could he even say that with a straight face and blank voice?

I giggled. He looked at me with a blank eye as I raised my hands up playfully. "What? I find it funny." I said while I stifle a laugh.

He ignored me and moved to a puzzle, leaving his tarot card tower untouched. His eyes looked far away as he solved the puzzle with his instincts. He looked like he was in some kind of trance, his eyes flashed emotions as if he was thinking of a million things at once but yet his face was blank.

I sat down beside him and he gave me a questioning look. Honestly, I don't like the idea of going back to my room and being alone for a moment. I actually want his company besides me, of course, I wouldn't tell him that. Ever.

I ignored his questioning stare and joined him into solving the puzzle. Finding the right pieces, I put them on the puzzle board. He started putting each piece together. We sat silently but it was kind of a good silence, not an awkward one. That surprises me, I'm always kind of awkward.

"You never change your clothes." I started a conversation. I nearly facepalmed myself in the face. Seriously? That's the first thing I say in a conversation?

"I do actually, I just have a set of the same exact clothes." He replied.

"That makes sense," I replied. The puzzle was already half finished. We just sat in silence as we completed the really huge puzzle with like a thousand pieces.

"You're actually the first one to accompany me." Near randomly said.

"Well, I guess that makes me special." I jokingly said. Good thing he knew I was joking.

Omniscient POV

Too bad, Y/N didn't hear a small whisper that came from Near.

"Yeah." His little voice whispered.

Moments passed by, Near and Y/N pretty much hung out in his room. It was quite an experience for Near. Seeing as Y/N taught him what's her definition of 'fun' and 'hanging out'.

"Okay, Now I'm going to teach you my kind of fun." Y/N playfully said. Within the past hours, Near had talked often. It was even surprising Y/N.

"Wait here. I'll bring my laptop." Y/N said as she dashed out the room. Leaving a confused albino behind.

'There must be something wrong with me.' Near thought to himself. 'I'm not complaining.' He simply thought again. Y/N came back running into his room. She dashed out again which left Near wondering what she'll do.

She came back with a bunch of chocolate and sweets. Y/N basically dragged the white-haired boy into the bed with her and started going through her favorite anime.

"So your definition of fun is sitting right here, watching people talk about senseless stuff while eating sweets?" Near asked her.

"Yes- I mean No. They're not talking about senseless stuff. It'll be fun, for once you'll do something other than thinking and stalking people behind the monitor." Y/N replied. Why would she bother to do all of these things? It's because she wants him to smile. She wonders if Near went through something that had him too emotionless and monotonous. Why would she want him to smile? No one knows, not even herself.

Although, it'll be very hard on her part. She'll try. I mean, how much does it take for a human to smile?

Well, that's a crappy and rushed chapter I made. I need to rush it because we need to be going somewhere. That means I'll be gone for a week.

A whole damned week.
