Chapter Twenty Two: Trick or Treat

"He's coming back today." Blaine was so jittery. It was only two days later so he had a right to be. And Halloween was right around the corner which freaked him out all the more.

"You need to calm down." Kurt said squeezing his hand. "He's not dead. You don't have his blood on your hand- I'm sorry that was a bad metaphor."

"Mmhmm." Blaine nodded, his foot bouncing up and down.

"Hey, why don't we talk about what we're doing for Halloween?" Kurt asked.

"Later." Blaine said, clenching his fist in and out. Lately it was something that relaxed him.

"He's coming." Kurt said.

And he just walked right past everyone. The bruises were all still visible. He had a black eye, scars surrounding his face and in other places that were slightly covered by clothing, cut lip, stitched up cheek. Yeah, Blaine definitely did some damage to him.

"What the hell happened to you Karofsky?" Azimio asked. Blaine winced. Nobody knew about that. Kurt, him, and Karofsky were the only ones who knew that it was Blaine's fault.

"Got in a nasty fight with a guy. You should see the other guy." Karofsky lied.

Yeah. You should see the other guy. Blaine gulped. He wasn't even hurt. Not a knick on him.

"We should go. You're looking pale." Kurt said, softly.

"Shouldn't I be apologizing?" Blaine asked.

"I think it'd just embarrass him. He's off your back Blaine. He's not going to bother us so we might as well take it." Kurt said.

"It makes him look tougher." Blaine gulped.

"Yeah, he's so tough he didn't have to throw a punch." Kurt rolled his eyes. "Let's just go, okay?"

"Yeah." Blaine nodded and took Kurt's hand, walking past Azimio, Karofsky, and a few other guys.

"Hey ladies." Azimio said.

Blaine turned around quickly, almost going at Azimio before Kurt pulled his arms back and whispered calming words to him.

"Blaine, just ignore them." Kurt said.

"Yeah, listen to your butt buddy." Azimio smirked.

"Knock it off Azimio." Karofsky nudged him.

"What did you just say?" Azimio asked.

"He could kick your ass if Kurt didn't stop him." Karofsky said. "Trust me, I've seen it."

Blaine gave him a confused look. Why would he stick up for them. Actually, he understood why he'd stand up for Kurt but why would he stand up for him?

"Just lay off okay? How would you feel if it were you in their place?" He asked.

"Blaine, just walk away." Kurt slightly punched his arm since he wouldn't listen. But when he looked at Kurt, he gave them one last look before walking away.

"Why'd he stick up for me?" Blaine asked, frustrated.

"Maybe because he didn't want you to take a hit at one of his friends too." Kurt said.

"No. He just wouldn't do that. He's been an ass to me ever since I moved to this school. He has an exterior reason." Blaine said.

"Blaine, or maybe you're just over thinking things." Kurt rubbed his arms.
