Luke was excited. He had been invited to Ashton's house to hang out after school on Friday. He had slept over at people's houses under the sea before but never on land and he was nervous. He wondered what it'd be like.

.He had his duffel bag slung over his shoulder and was making his way towards Ashton's house. He had told his aunt the address and she had told him how to get there so now he was walking.

Luke was reading the numbers along the mailboxes until he stopped at the one that matched the one Ashton had sent him. Luke checked the mailbox and then checked his phone again. He looked up to see a smaller house. It wasn't as big as the houses in the neighborhood but it was so cute and adorable and looked like a house Luke had read about in his human books.

He walked up the short gravely driveway and made his way to the door. He rang the doorbell, knowing it was needed. It wasn't like the ocean where he swam in through the windows of his friends' houses without worry.

He heard shuffling inside and the door was soon opened. By none other than the only person that hated him. Michael Clifford.

"Ashton, did you really have to invite him?" Michael groaned.

"Be nice, Michael," Ashton scolded. He came up behind Michael and pinched the black haired boy.

"Not my fault if he ruins the night," Michael grumbled. He pushed the door so it was closing and stalked away from the other two. Ashton rushed forward to make sure it didn't slam on Luke. That wouldn't be polite.

"Welcome to my home, Luke," he said, opening the door widely and motioning the blue haired boy in.

"Who chose Little Mermaid?"

Luke was not surprised to hear Michael's groans and complaints, walking into the living room. He did not understand why Michael had to complain about everything. Luke was very excited to watch this movie and he didn't understand why Michael was so against it.

"It was Luke, wasn't it?" Michael groaned, flopping down on the sofa across from Luke. He couldn't even sit near Luke. Luke was that annoying to him.

"Can you just shut the fish guts up? You're so rude," Luke groaned, now he was the one groaning. He was becoming Michael. He really didn't want to be Michael.

Michael looked over and sighed as he looked over at the small boy across from him.

"Whatever," he muttered.

Calum and Ashton were cuddled up in a reclining chair just watching the event unfold. They wanted their friends to work out their quarrels themselves and this one wasn't so bad that they had to get in between just yet.

Ashton waited to see that the two boys had quieted down before pressing play on the movie. Luke was instantly impressed at the beginning. It reminded him of home. They had a theater about 70 miles away that was just like the one in the opening scene. He remembers swimming past and seeing the mermaids and mermen practicing outside for months with a few of the fish and turtles so that they could get ready for the show. Luke did get scared though when Ariel had the encounter with the shark. His school had lost a few students that way. He couldn't help but curl up and hide his face in the blankets when he saw that part in the movie.

Luke watched the movie so excitedly, seeing Ariel swim and sing and collect human things. He watched as Ariel went to Ursula and couldn't help but hiss at the eels that came onto the screen. He also really hated eels. Eels attacked his uncle and left him scaleless completely.

He could see a resemblance of Michael in Ursula though. Both mean and heartless and wanting to take down a little mermaid.

Luke felt as if he could relate deeply with Ariel wanting to be on land. He really liked it. He also couldn't help but laugh when he saw Ariel walk on land the first time. He had felt the same way and almost fell over if his aunt hadn't caught him.

He loved the way she had found the love of her life and it gave him true hope. He wanted to be like Ariel. She already had her scale colors. She had pretty scales. Luke's were still boring. He hated it so much. Luke wanted to find true love and he was so close to it. If only Ashton would just leave Calum alone for ten seconds and everything would be okay. Luke could make his move.

"For Poseidon's sake, how did she not grow a tail in her bath?" Luke muttered, watching Ariel having fun with the bubbles. He was going to have to have his aunt invest in some of those. They looked really entertaining to the blue haired boy and the only bubbles he had ever seen always deteriorated once they were swam through.

"Luke, we're going to make popcorn. Do you want any?" Ashton asked, standing up and pulling Calum with him. Their reclining chair snapped back into its place and Luke was amused.

"Of course," Luke said cheerfully.

He didn't know what popcorn was but he was willing to try it. Luke didn't say anything though because he didn't want to appear dumb in front of Michael even more so.

"They're definitely going to blow each other or something," Michael said chuckling, watching Calum and Ashton get up and run out of the room.

"Are you sure?" Luke asked softly.

"They always do. Just turn up the movie so we hear Ariel over their moans," Michael said casually.

Luke complied and did what Michael said but he couldn't help but feel anger. He should be the one dragging Calum away. Not Ashton. Calum was his merman.
