New Beginning

Chapter 15

I wipe the tears from my face as there is a knock on my door. Aaron walks in. "Hey I heard- Are you okay?"

I nod. "Yeah. I found his letter."

"Oh. He sent that right after you left and we all figured we'd leave it here for you to see when you got back."

"That was a good idea. I probably would've trashed it as soon as I saw it."

"Figured as much."

"What did you need?"

"Oh, I was coming to see if you wanted to grab something to eat? Danny is about to have to run to his parent's place for some last minute thing and the others are all doing random things."

I nod. "I'd love to."

I stand up and grab my keys then follow him out the door. "There's this small hole in the wall Chinese restaurant walking distance from here." Aaron says as we walk downstairs.

"Sounds good to me."

We make our way to the restaurant and are seated near the back at a small table. We both order drinks and some egg drop soup to start off with. "You know, he's pretty excited." He says as he eats some of the soup.

"You've talked to him?"

He nods. "I talk to him almost daily."

"What about the long distance calls?"

"Unlimited because of that."

"Oh."

He nods. "How do you feel about him coming back?"

"Nervous. Severely nervous."

"That's understandable."

The waitress comes back and we both order our food. I order honey chicken with Lo Mein and Aaron orders Mongolian beef with fried rice. "I miss him so much and want him here with me, but at the same time I'm still really freaking pissed."

"Trust me when I say I know where you're coming from."

"What do you mean?"

"I had a girl that was kind of like Lyric in our relationship. She had a dark past and it caught up with her and she ended it so neither one of us would get hurt." He looks down sadly.

"What happened?"

"She never came back."

"Why?"

"Her past was her abusive father. I told her I would protect as long as I lived, but she ran. When I finally found her again, it was in a mortuary."

"Oh my god." I say covering my mouth out of shock. "I had no idea."

"No one does. Lyric is the only one that knows. When that happened is when I started acting out with drugs and everything. I don't want either of you to experience what I did. I know your still slightly mad at him, but give it a chance. Be glad he's still there." He smiles slightly. "You have no idea what I would give to go back and have the chance both of you have."

I nod. "I'm sorry that happened."

"Yeah. Just follow my advice or try to, okay?"

"I will."

"Lyric said that he'd understand if you're still angry. He wouldn't blame you if you took it out on him every so often. But I'm going to say this. No physical crap. If I find out either one of you are hurting yourself or each other I will lose my shit. Got it?"

I smile slightly. "Yeah. I got it." We get our food and start eating. When we are done, he pays for the food and we leave. We are walking back to the apartment. "Aaron?"
