New Beginning

Chapter 14

"Do you really have to go?" Thomas whines.

I look down at the small child I have come to love. I knee down in front of him. "I'm afraid so little man. I have to get home."

"Will you come visit again?"

I nod. "Of course. I have to come back. We're getting a little sister, remember?"

He smiles. "I know." He hugs me one last time and I stand up and hug Maria and Alexander.

"Don't forget to write. Especially about how you and Lyric go."

"I'll update you every chance I get."

"Good." She kisses my cheek as my flight is called and I go to the plane and make my way back home. A few hours later, I'm getting off the plane and driving back home. When I get there, I see that I am alone. There is a note on the fridge. I pick it up and read it.

Lavender,

Had to go do something with mother once again... Sorry I couldn't be here when you got back. Tony is supposed to be staying at his place tonight and I'm staying at mother's. If you want, invite a couple of friends over so you aren't by yourself. I'll see you in the morning!

I set the note on the counter and sigh. Who should I invite over? Maybe Rose and Toby? I think I'll do that. Rose should be getting off in the next hour. I dial Rose's phone number, knowing Toby will answer.

"Lavender? Are you back?" He says answering the phone.

"Yeah. I'm at my place alone tonight and wanted to see if you and Rose wanted to come by? A lot happened in Manchester and I need advice ASAP."

"Let me ask Rose."

"'Kay." I wait a few minutes and he's back on the line.

"We'll come over when she gets off."

"Sounds awesome."

"See you then."

"Alright." We both hang up. I go around the kitchen and make a quick dinner for all of us then change into a pair of sweat pants and a sweatshirt that says my whole weekend is booked on it with a picture of a stack of books beside it. I sit at the counter and read a little. I hear a knock on the door. "Come in! It's open!" I yell from the kitchen.

I hear quick footsteps towards the kitchen and am tackled by Jason. I make a loud oomph sound as he pulls me off my chair. My book hits the floor. "What the hell, man!"

He sets me down softly after he is done hugging me to death. I sigh and pick up my book. "You better be damn glad this didn't get messed up. What are you doing here anyways?"

"Everyone came with us." Toby says walking in with Rose. "They wouldn't take no for an answer."

I laugh and shake my head. "Okay then."

Danny walks in with Tony not far behind him. I look at Tony. "I thought you were staying at your place tonight?"

He shrugs. "Plans changed."

"Uh huh. Obviously."

Aaron walks in while shaking his head. "I tried to stop Jason... It didn't work."

"Obviously." I look at my turned over chair and glare at Jason. I then point at the chair and he picks it up looking like a child that just got scolded.

"Where's Josie and Samuel?"

"Out of town with Josie's family." Danny says.

I nod. "Tony help me make more food please."
