I got back home and as expected Hewitt was still at my place, definitely already getting worried that I was taking too long.
"What took you so long? Did he do anything to you? What does Spade want"? He rushed out immediately I stepped into the house, causing me to frown as I looked at his worried face

"Slow down, jeez, one question at a time" I said with a light chuckle and that seemed to calm him down as he just let out a deep sigh
"First of all i didn't take that long, maybe a few minutes, but not up to an hour" I said glancing at my wrist watch briefly before I grinned at him.
"Second, he didn't do anything to me so you can relax now and third, Spade really does need my help and I agreed to help him" I finished, seeing the way Hewitt was staring at me skeptically

"What does he want"? He grumbled out as I sat myself on the couch beside him.

"Just a few ammo and my very excellent shooting" I boasted as I looked at Hewitt who just rolled his eyes at me, he knew I like showing off when it comes to shooting, even though I learnt from him, I became better and I use every opportunity I get to rub it in

"Why does he need all that"? Hewitt asked, bringing my focus back to the discussion and I just shrugged and frowned

"You remember the place we went to that Matteo was shot"? I asked, just saying his name caused my heart to skip a beat, Hewitt nodded "well we found out who sent them and Spade wants to pay them a visit, so he needs my help" I finished and Hewitt seemed to be deep in thought, I was beginning to think he didn't hear me until he spoke.

"And you think it's a good idea to go with him"? He asked and I just shrugged, it's not as if I had anything doing at the moment, I was kind of free and going with him should serve as a distraction, except for the fact that Matteo would also be there
"Is he going to be there"? Hewitt asked, I already knew who he was asking about so I just nodded, of course he'd be there, he's Spade's right hand, I'd be surprised if Spade didn't take him.
"You know I still don't like him right"? He asked and I just sighed out, I know Hewitt was never a fan of Matteo, and he hasn't really been subtle about it, I'm surprised he hasnt beat up Matteo yet, or maybe he did.

I mean after I had that little thing with Matteo and I had that panic attack, he came back the next day and his face was a bit roughed up and when I asked him, he just shrugged and said something about having a little chat with someone that was getting on his nerves.

"I know you don't like him but it's not his fault that I feel this way for him" I said truthfully, seeing the way he clenched his jaw, it's the truth, it's not Matteo's fault that I'm in love with him, or that he doesn't feel the same way for me.
"And besides it's not as if I'll be working for Matteo, I'd be working for and with Spade" I explained and he just sighed out and looked away from me.

"If you say so" he grumbled out causing me to smile and nudge his side, he looked at me and I could see the smile threatening to spill, after a while of us just staying there in silence, he spoke up
"Has he called you again"? He asked causing me to look at him "I mean after the last time he called" he drawled out, I already knew who he was talking about so I just let out a sigh as I looked away from him.

"No, he hasn't called me" I whispered

"If he calls you again, you'll let me know right"? He asked and I looked at him and swallowed, before I nodded my head, I will tell him because I know how much he worries about me ever since I told him everything that happened between my father, Luke and me

After lounging on the couch with Hewitt, he stubbornly wanted to come with me to the warehouse and you can't really say no to Hewitt when he actually wants something done his way, so here I am with Hewitt, getting everything Spade's going to need on his mission.
