"Damn," Indy whispered, lowering the binoculars. "She can see them too. And they're terrified of her."

"Dad," Emily insisted. "If Abner's theory is right, the longer we wait and the more sacrifices Edo's goons make, and the darker it gets - the more powerful they're going to be."

Indy passed the binoculars to Emily. "Tell me what you see on her hands."

Emily sharpened the focus. "Those are ancient shaman tattoos... like Shorty has on his injured arm."

Indy grinned at Emily. "Lizavet's a shamaness."

Shorty stared at them. "Is it dark enough for a rescue yet? I want to hug her and get home!" He started to charge forward.

Indy caught him by the jacket collar and pulled him back. "Stay in the shadows, Shorty. We can't just go charging in there." Indy looked around. "Where's Em?"
