The warehouse windows were bathed in the pale light of the moon, casting an otherworldly glow on the interior and casting ethereal shadows and ghostly silhouettes of the stacked crates within. The stillness of the night was only interrupted by the sound of Dazai piercing the silence. "Now, then. I think it'll be soon." Dazai's voice carried a sense of determination as he spoke those words.
The sudden disappearance of the clouds from the moon only added to the enigmatic atmosphere. "What?!" Atsushi was made aware of the threat in the warehouse by a loud crash. He knew that the loud sound could signal an unexpected event that required their attention. It could mean the presence of the tiger, and it was better to be safe and sorry. Atsushi lurched back, falling off the crate, before taking a step back, his heart racing as he believed the tiger had finally arrived and was prowling the shelves of the building.
"I-I just heard something back there." The two partners were unconcerned, but Atsushi's heart pounded in his chest. He couldn't shake off the feeling that something dangerous was lurking nearby. "Yeah." "I bet that's the tiger, Dazai-san!" "No, I think the wind just knocked something down." [Y/n] pushed herself off the wall while nodding her head in agreement.
"It's the man-eater. It's come to eat me." With his voice echoing off the walls, Atsushi shouted, but his speech was abruptly ended by Dazai as he shut his book. "Calm down, Atsushi-kun. Tigers don't just show up like that." [Y/n] spoke in a composed manner. "How can you be so calm?" How do you know for sure?"
"Something wasn't quite right to begin with. Just because their finances went south, why would an orphanage banish a child? It's not some farming village from a bygone area. Eliminating one or two mouths to feed would hardly put a dent in their deficit. It'd make more sense to downsize by transferring half of the kids to a different institution." Dazai rose up from the crate after uncrossing his legs.
"What are you talking about, Dazai-san?" Atsushi moved back a step. "You came to this city two weeks ago. The tiger also appeared in this city two weeks ago." Atsushi turned around to face the moon, which was shining brightly in the night sky. He couldn't help but wonder if there was a connection between his arrival and the sudden appearance of the tiger.
As [Y/n] advanced, their eyes scoured the young boy for any signs of the unexpected. Her hands were buried in her coat's pocket as she fixed her fierce gaze on the youngster. Keeping a cool face, Dazai states, "You were in Tsurumi four days ago. The tiger was also sighted there four days ago. Remember what Kunikida-kun said? The Armed Detective Agency is comprised of individuals with supernatural powers."
Atsushi begins to writhe in pain, his body shifts and contorts, with his skin becoming covered in thick white fur. "Though not a well-known fact, there are quite a few individuals who possess supernatural abilities in this world. Some use their powers to achieve great success, while others fall into a ruin as a result of being unable to control their powers."
As his limbs stretch and contort, he convulses, letting out bloodcurdling screams. His nose elongates and his teeth sharpen, giving him a fearsome appearance. He grows taller and wider, his muscles bulging and stretching against his skin. A blue light swirls around him and throughout his body, before he was eventually engulfed entirely in the bright light.
Atsushi feels an exhilarating rush of power coursing through his body, as he transforms. His senses became more acute, and he can now smell and hear things that would normally be imperceptible. His vision changes too, as his eyesight sharpens and his pupils become slit like a cat's.
When the light vanished, his garments tore, revealing a rather large white tiger with glaring slit pupils, its powerful muscles bulging under its skin as it roared in fury. The boy had fully transformed into the beast, his human form completely gone and replaced by that of a tiger. "I'm guessing that the institution's staff knew who the tiger was but declined to enlighten you."
