[ Chapter 43 || The Dragon's Awakening ] ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
As [Y/n] gazed through her tear-streaked eyes, she watched in sadness as Dazai's ability separated from him. The crystal emitted an enchanting luminosity that encircled her in its brilliance, yet a profound sense of sorrow weighed heavily on her heart. "With the owner dead, the special ability leaves him," Fyodor said, a wicked gleam in his eyes.
Shibusawa's heart raced, a sensation he had never experienced before. [Y/n] wrenched Dazai's lifeless body from Shibusawa's grasp while he crouched in front of the crystal. As he reached to touch it, he halted, taken aback by the crimson hue that had replaced the once vivid blue. Panic etched on his face, Shibusawa leaped to his feet.
"This isn't right!" Suddenly, the gem was consumed by a scarlet vortex, which absorbed the other vortex to create an even more powerful cyclone. The energy radiating from the vortex was palpable, causing the air to crackle and vibrate with intensity. Caught in the midst of the vortex's fierce winds, [Y/n]'s hair whipped wildly across her face. The vortex grew in strength, its swirling energy commanding all in its path.
"The merging ability and disabling ability. With the two contrary abilities becoming one, a singularity is born." [Y/n]'s gaze followed Fyodor's footsteps as he approached, his boots echoing loudly in the room. Within his grasp lay a precious golden skull. "Even with Dazai's special ability, what you really desire - your lost memories - will never come back."
Shibusawa recoiled in shock, quickly standing up and staring down at Fyodor. "How do you know about that?!" he demanded. Fyodor simply smirked and replied, "Not to worry, I'll fill in the lines that were blanked out for you." With a swift movement, he pulled a knife from his sleeve and held it tightly in his hand.
Without warning, Fyodor lunged forward and sliced through Shibusawa's neck, blood spraying out in all directions. Shocked and struggling for breath, Shibusawa stumbled backward and fell against the doorframe, causing it to creak loudly. As the life drained from Shibusawa's body, Fyodor spoke coolly, "This is death. Do you remember anything?"
"That's right. That moment you died." Fyodor declared, holding the skull up to the light. As the wind began to erode the gilded surface, a jagged claw mark emerged from beneath. "And it was you, yourself, who'd inherited your ability when you parted with your body," he continued. "You'd forgotten about your own death and made a room to collect and manage yourself in. That's who you are now." Suddenly, a raging vortex consumed Draconia, shattering the upper portion of the ornate stained glass dome.
Unnoticed by Fyodor, [Y/n] deftly pocketed the knife she had taken from Dazai's back, "I'll avenge you, Dazai-san." " she whispered, her eyes on Fyodor as he spoke. "Isn't it beautiful Malaya? It's the beginning of the end." Rage boiled within [Y/n] at his words, but her attention was drawn away by Dazai's body rising from the ground and being dragged into the vortex. "Dazai," she murmured, her heart heavy as she watched him fade from view. She felt a wave of sadness wash over her as she realized he was gone. "You're quite greedy, aren't you, Dazai-kun? Even in death, you intend to see this town to it's demise, do you?"
