As I'm sitting here thinking, I'm wondering how on earth did both of the people we hold dear have ended up in an accident on the same day. Even though I believe more in coincidences rather than fate, this is just strange. The nurse mentioned something about a car accident, but I know that Yoongi typically avoids all kinds of transportation because of all the shit he's gone through. She said that Yoongi tried to stop a woman who was crossing the street intoxicated and that resulted in both of them getting hit by a speeding car.

Evelyn has a concussion and Jimin told me that she was also hit by a car.

Could it be?

That's when the doors of the operating room glide open and instinctively, I rise to my feet. Dr. Cirraine, the head surgeon approaches me with a polite smile, while the rest of the doctors stay inside the operating room and I catch a glimpse of the hospital bed and the machines. The tiniest flash of Yoongi's anemic face in an oxygen mask makes my heart sink to my stomach causing me to fold my arms against my chest.

"Hello, you must be Noctis." Dr, Cirraine says and I nod.

"Yes," I mutter. "How is Yoongi? Is he going to be alright? Can I see him?"

"He will be just fine." He replies with a gentle smile. "He's been through a quite the eventful night, but he will be alright."

A wave of relief washes through me when I hear his words.

"So, let me briefly explain to you the situation we've got here." He starts. "Mr. Min has fractured and broken six ribs and he broke his arm in the accident. Typically, when people break ribs, they don't need to get surgery and the patient can even be treated at home, but in Mr. Min's case he hasn't only broken several ribs so the surgical procedure was necessary. Especially when he had a severe deformity in the chest wall."

"What does that mean exactly?" I ask in a small voice.

"A deformity in the chest wall or a flail chest is a life-threatening condition that occurs when a section of the ribs separates from the chest wall." Goosebumps spread like wildfire all over my skin when he says that and my eyes widen like plates. "It's a serious injury and treatment had to be given immediately because the patient had trouble breathing and our main goal was to protect his lungs and prevent pneumonia in order to ensure that Mr. Min would breathe sufficiently."

"D-did it hurt him?" I ask lowly. God, that's one dumb fucking question. Of course, it hurt like hell.

"We put him under general anesthesia so he didn't feel any sort of pain." Dr. Cirraine tells me and I breathe out in relief. "On positive side, we managed to perform the surgery in time so he didn't have a pneumothorax. Meaning, that the broken edges of his ribs didn't puncture the pleural sac and lung.

"We performed a rib plating surgery where we basically used titanium plates to stabilize Mr. Min's fractured ribs and shift them back in the right anatomic location." I flinch inwardly at the way he explains the procedure, but I keep my mouth shut and listen. "Healing usually takes six weeks, but depending on his condition he will have to stay in the ICU for much longer because of his flail chest."

I shudder when he completes the last sentence and he puts his hand on my shoulder and smiles. "Don't worry, he will wake up soon Ms. Caelum. That young man is a fighter."

"I know he is." I say in a whisper.

"I heard that he jumped in front of a truck to save another young woman." He continues.

Yoongi is Yoongi, he's too headstrong to let anything happen to him.

"What a damn fool." The words mindlessly leave my mouth with a laugh and a tear falls down my cheek. "Always putting his life on the line."
