"He's waking up."

"Slowly master Bruce. Your injuries are rather severe."

Batman slowly sat up on the bed he was lying on. His arms, legs and torso were properly treated and bandaged. He grabbed a nearby glass of water gulped it down. Alfred was standing by waiting patiently with another cup.

Nightwing A.K.A Dick Grayson was leaning on the bed, arms crossed and Batgirl A.K.A Barbara Gordon was also standing by him, both still in their hero outfits. He knew that Damian, the current Robin and his son was sitting in the batchair though he couldn't see him. They were all waiting for him to explain what happened.

Grayson: Bruce, what happened?

Bruce: The joker? Is he--

Grayson: He's dead, Bruce.Tell us what happened. Was it Jason?

Bruce shook his head as he grabbed another drink of water.

Bruce: No. It wasn't Jason. Infact I don't know who did it. He was just there and I didn't notice him until he shot joker.

Everyone fell silent as they digested the information. Bruce couldn't believe it either. For years, the Joker had haunted him, tormented Gotham, and tortured those he cared about even killing Jason. And through all that he was still alive.

Bruce: He was fighting me and suddenly he was gone, dead. It wasn't in a planned attack. No meticulous revenge scheme or gangster plots just wrong place wrong time.

Barbara: How so? The place was set up with booby traps. Whoever lived there was definitely expecting visitors of the unpleasant kind.

Bruce: No. It was a kid. Just about your age, Barbara. H/l H/c hair with E/c eyes. Fit but not overly muscled. Good with a gun. Intelligent and technologically inclined but lazy. Should be still in high school or dropped out about a year ago.

Nightwing: How do you know that? You weren't in any condition to be doing detective work.

Bruce: He killed Joker and shot me for destroying his Computer. It wasn't a cheap one but he had it. It had top specs but also wasn't a supercomputer. Speaking of which did you bring it with you.

Nightwing nodded and turned to Damian. The storage drives where plugged into the bat-computer and it was recovering as much data as it could from them.

Nightwing: I thought it was a long shot but it's still a lead. The drives were badly damaged so it's taking a while.

Bruce nodded and got off the bed, Nightwing having to hold him up. He walked with Nightwing's help to the bat-computer.

Bruce: Run a search for missing persons matching his description dating back at least two years ago. He mentioned going back to his parents.

Nightwing: And you believed him?

Bruce: I do. He either can't lie or doesn't care to.

Alfred: Master Bruce, I think you need to see this.

Bruce: What is it Alfred?

They all gathered around the screen Alfred had turned on. The GCN was showing a breaking news alert focused on the Joker's death.

News rep: --This evening after his escape from Arkham Asylum. His body was found in an apartment in the downtown area and witness implicate Batman as well as this hooded figure to be our primary suspects. As to whether this is the real joker or not has yet to be proven. The police have yet to make a statement as to the current proceedings.

Bruce frowned in thought, confused as to how it all just happened. He snapped out of it when he heard Barbara speak. He looked up to see her staring at a freeze frame close up of Y/n leaving the apartment.
