TW: Theres a lot of swearing at the end. I decided I was just going to do a little filler/flashback chapter. I wanted to do a chapter on how the Umbrella Academy acted when they were kids. I do still hope you're enjoying the book! :)

⸺WHEN THEY WERE ABOUT THIRTEEN, THE Umbrella Academy had to go to Paris for a mission and they had to get up very early. They all were sent to bed early, but of course Maria was going to keep trying to talk to Ben.

"Hey." He just ignored her. "Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben."

"God, what Maria?"

"Guess what."

"What?" Ben muttered.

"Look at the wall." She was making a shadow puppet on the wall with the moonlight. "Huh? Cool, right?"

"Why must you insist on showing me these things when I'm trying to sleep."

"Because I can't sleep and I'm bored."

"So you decide to annoy me?"

"Yes."

"Can't you go bug Diego or something?" She sat up and got out of bed and Ben went back to sleep. She made herself lighter so that you couldn't hear her footsteps. She sneaked into Diego's room and leaned over his face. She got really close and whispered at him waking him up. "Diego."

"What?"

"I'm bored."

"Good for you." He flipped over on his other side so he was facing away from her. She climbed over him and sat down on his bed so that she was facing him. "Diego."

"Mm."

"I'm bored and Ben told me to come annoy you."

"Well go annoy Luther." He compromised.

"I don't want to annoy Luther."

"Why not?" Diego asked.

"'Cause he'll use physical force to get me out of his room." Maria argued.

"Good point." There was some silence between the two for a few seconds, Diego actually enjoying the silence, but he should've known that Maria can't be quiet for that long. "Soooo."

"Can you please let me sleep?" Diego begged.

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm bored."

"Well, why do you insist on annoying me?"

"Because."

"Because why?"

"Luther will use physical force, Allison will rumor me out, Klaus is an insanely heavy sleeper. I couldn't wake him up anyway. Five is way too grumpy and Vanya will just fall back asleep."

"Damn it, Maria."

"Sooooo, can we talk please just until I get tired?"

"Fine." They stayed up for about an hour just talking and having fun. At one point, Sir Reginald Hargreeves thought he heard something from Diego's room and he went into his room so Maria had to hide. Maria eventually got tired and went back to bed. She only got about four hours of sleep, but she didn't regret it. She had woken up on time but she wouldn't get out of bed so she was about fifteen minutes late and Diego came in to her room to wake her up. "Maria, you gotta get up."
