Chapter 33

Scott goes back to the couch and grabs Aurora's hand and takes her to the bedroom.
"Scott, what's wrong?"
Scott places a finger over his lips. "Stay quiet," he whispers.
Then there is a banging on the door.
"I know your there! Open the door.
"Scott, what is going on?" She whispers.
"It's the man from the bar."
"What!"
"Shh."
"What is he doing here? I thought he was in jail."
"I did too. Stay quiet."
"Scott."
"Shh."
He bangs again. "Open this door now or I will break it down!"
"Scott, I'm scared," Aurora whispers.
Scott goes to Aurora who is sitting on the bed. He wraps his arms around her. "It will be okay. I won't let him hurt you I promise. Your safe."
Aurora lays her head on his chest. Scott rubs her back.
"Do you think he will break in?"
"I don't know. Just stay quiet."
"If you don't open this door in the next five minutes I am breaking it down!"
Scott removes his arms from around Aurora and pulls her up and grabs her hand. He leads her to the bathroom.
"Go in there and get in the tub and stay quiet."
"I'm not leaving you!"
"Aurora baby, please do as I say."
"But what about you? Scott."
"It will be okay. Trust me. Just go and stay quiet. I love you."
Aurora goes into the bathroom. She looks back at Scott then runs and throws her arms around him. He kisses her passionately. "It will be okay. Go baby. I love you."
Aurora goes into the bathroom and gets in the tub and pulls her knees up to her chest. Scott hides behind the bedroom door.
"Okay you had your chance. I am breaking the door down!"
He starts kicking the door hard. Scott pulls out his phone.
"911 what's your emergency?"
"Someone is trying to break into my house."
"What is your address?"
Scott gives it to them
"I know your here! I will find you."
"Someone is on there way."
"Thanks."
Scott hangs up and stays quiet behind the door. The man walks through the rooms and walks into the bedroom.
"I know your here."
When the man gets all the way into the room Scott grabs him from behind.
"What the!"
The man looks up at him.
"Where is your girlfriend?"
"Not here."
"I know that is a lie. Where are you hiding her?"
"How did you get my address?"
"I have my ways. Now tell me where she is!"
"I told you she's not here!"
"Your lying!"
The man pulls away from Scott, but not before he stabs him in the side. Scott bends over in pain.
"Tell me where she is before I kill you!"
"She's not here!"
The man walks to Scott and stabs him again in the side.
"Police! Coming in!"
"You called the police! This is not over!"
The man runs and jumps out the window, breaking it and runs.
The police walk into the room. Scott is on the floor. They call 911 and tell them someone needs medical attention.
"Sir, can you hear me? Help is on the way."
"Aurora," he says roughly
"Who?"
"Aurora."
The officer looks at the man beside him.
"I think we need to search. I think someone else is here."
They began looking around. One of the officers goes into the bathroom and finds Aurora curled up in the tub.
"I found her!"
He walks to her.
"Miss are you alright?"
She looks up.
"Where is Scott?"
"He is being taken care of. Are you okay?"
"Yes. Where is Scott?"
She stands up and runs from the bathroom. She sees Scott on the ground.
"Scott!"
She runs to him.
"Oh Scott!"
She sees blood on his side and his shirt is covered.
"Aurora baby," he says softly.
"Oh Scott."
"Miss we need you to stand back. The EMS is here. He is going to the hospital."
"I'm going too."
They carry Scott to the ambulance. Aurora climbs inside and sits next to Scott. She takes his hand.
"Aurora."
"I'm here Scott." She kisses his hand.
"I love you," he mumbles.
"I know." She kisses his hand again.
They reach the hospital and Scott is taken into emergency. The nurse approaches Aurora.
"You need to wait here."
"Is he going to be okay?"
"I think so." Then she leaves
Aurora sits down in a chair in the waiting room. She starts crying. She pulls out her phone.
"Hey beautiful. Your calling late. Is everything okay?"
"Oh Chris! Scott is at the hospital."
"What! What happened?"
"The man from the bar stabbed him. I am in the waiting room now," she cries.
"I'm on my way."
"Okay thanks."
They hang up. Aurora lays her head on her arm in her lap and cries. A few minutes later she feels someone touch her knees. She looks up and sees Chris crouched down in front of her. She throws her arms around him.
"Oh Chris! Why..." she cries.
"It's okay."
"What if he...he..."
"Hey don't talk like that. I'm sure he will be fine."
"But what if isn't? He will die and I won't have told him how I feel?"
"I'm sure he knows."
"But I haven't told him. He said it again in the ambulance and I only said I know. He tells me all the time, but I haven't been able to say it back. But I want to. I want to say it. Oh Chris I don't want to loose him."
"Shh. It's okay beautiful," Chris says rubbing her back. Her head is buried in his chest.
"Why did he come to his house? How did he know where he lived?"
"I don't know. But I'm sure you won't have to worry about him anymore."
"I hope not."
"Umm Ms Skies."
Aurora and Chris pulls apart and see the doctor
"Yes." They both stand up.
"He is in recovery. You can see him."
"Is he okay?"
"Yes. He will have to take it easy for a few days but he is fine. He's lucky. If the police hadn't found him when they did he wouldn't have made it. He lost a lot of blood. He's in room 12."
Aurora nods. "Thanks."
The doctor walks away.
"Want me to come with you?"
"Can you give us a few minutes?"
"Sure."
Chris waits in the waiting room. Aurora walks into the room. Scott is lying in the bed under the covers.
"Hey baby."
"Oh Scott," she says sitting on the bed next to him and kisses him. She cries.
"Hey it's okay."
"What happened?"
"He stabbed me and I couldn't do anything. Before he came into the room I had called the police. Glad I did."
"Me too. The doctor said you wouldn't have made it if the police hadn't found you when they did. They said you lost a lot of blood."
"Yeah."
"Did they get him?"
"No. He went out the window."
"You mean he's still out there?" Aurora cries
"Baby, it will be okay."
Aurora wraps her arms around Scott.
"Ouch. Careful baby."
"Oh sorry," she sits up a little. "Scott I thought I had lost you. I..."
"Hey it's okay. You didn't lose me. I'm here."
"Scott I..."
"What is it baby?"
"I...I love you."
Scott smiles. "I love you too."
"I'm scared," she lays her head on his chest.
"It will be okay. Aurora?"
"Yeah "
"Look at me."
She raises her head
"Move in with me."
"What!" She sits up. "I can't!"
"Why?"
"My parents would kill me."
"Baby, I want you safe and with him still out there I will worry about you."
"Scott I can't. My parents..."
"I have an extra room. At least until the police catch him. Please baby. I want you safe."
"Can I think about it?"
"Yes of course."
Aurora looks up and sees Chris in the door way.
"Knock knock."
Scott looks up and sees him.
"Chris."
"Hey man. You look rough."
"I feel rough. How did you know I was here?"
He looks at Aurora.
"I called him."
Scott smiles.
"Do you want me to stay?" Aurora asks
"If you want. I don't want you going home alone. Is Willow working?"
"I think so."
Scott looks at Chris. "You could stay with Chris."
"What! Scott..."
"Sure, that's fine with me."
"Scott I will be fine."
"Baby please. If you are at your apartment alone I will worry about you."
Aurora looks at Chris.
"It's fine with me. I have an extra room.
"Scott..."
"Just until I get out of the hospital. Please baby."
"Fine, but I could stay here with you."
"I would love that but you need to rest."
"You know I won't sleep."
"I want you to at least try."
"But I can't call you if I have a dream."
"Why can't you? I have my phone."
"Your in the hospital and..."
"You can still call me. Anytime. You know that."
"Okay."
She hugs him and kisses him.
"I love you baby."
"I love you too."
She kisses him and stands up.
"I will call you later."
"Okay baby. Be careful."
"Done worry. I will look after her."
"I know you will. Thanks."
"Welcome."
Chris and Aurora walk out of the room and head to Chris's car. Once they are in Chris turns to her.
"So you finally said it."
"Yes. He asked me to move in with him."
"What did you say?"
"That I would think about it."
Chris smiles. "So do you need to go to your apartment first to get your stuff?"
"I probably should grab a few things. My parents won't be happy."
"Why do you say that?"
"They are old fashioned and don't agree with a guy and girl living together if they aren't married."
"Oh well it's only a few days and you know nothing will happen."
"I know. How long do you think he will be in the hospital?"
"I don't know. Probably only a few days."
A few minutes later Chris pulls up at her apartment.
"I guess Willow is at work."
"Want me to come in with you?"
"Sure."
They walk in together.
"I will be a few minutes."
"Take your time."
Aurora walks to her room and grabs her small duffel from the closest and starts throwing clothes in it. She then grabs her toiletries bag and throws things in it. Then she grabs both bags and walks into the living room. Chris is sitting at the island.
"Got everything?"
"I think so."
"Here, I'll take that," he says reaching for the duffel bag.
"I guess I should leave Willow a note."
She grabs a piece of paper from the drawer next to the sink.
Willow,
I will be staying with Chris for a few days. I will explain later. Call me.
Aurora
"Okay."
Chris and Aurora walk to his car. Chris throws her duffel in the back and they climb in and they head to his house.
They ride mostly in silence. Chris looks over at her a few times.
"It will be okay."
"I know. I just can't believe I am doing this."
"Everything will be fine. I promise." Chris smiles.
