IIf you're searching for a totally original and completed story, this is the one for you!! Check out @JAYA1014

Name: J.B. Kantt

Book Title: The Suit War

Genre: Fantasy

Summary:

In a parallel universe known as Drac, the four kingdoms (called suits) have been at war for centuries. Each suit (Spades, Clubs, Diamonds, and Hearts) is made up of a playing card hierarchy that is ruled by the King, Queen, and Jack, and every subject is born with their suit and number imprinted on the back of their neck. The number (a rounded-up average of their parents’ numbers that is between two and ten) is based off their ancestors’ loyalty to the Crown.

There is, however, one randomly selected person in each suit that is born with an A (the symbol of the Ace) on their neck, making them the societal outcast. It is forbidden for the four aces of Drac to ever come together, because there is a myth that if all four of them join hands, they can set off an explosion that will kill all living beings except for themselves. Regardless, the Ace of Hearts, thirteen-year-old Celia Rumer, decides to try her luck in rallying the aces together after the King of Hearts suddenly commits suicide. She hopes that the threat of the four aces banding together will bring an end to the suit war, but will she be able to find the other aces without facing dire consequences of breaking the law?

(You’ll have to read the book to find out the answer to that question, hehe.)

Completed?

Yep!

What inspired you to write your story?

Alice In Wonderland was an inspiration for the playing card theme in my story, but other than that the crazy idea just popped into my imagination one day. You’d be surprised by the wild ideas my imagination comes up with, haha!

Who is your favorite character, if you had to choose?

Ugh, that’s such a tough question! But I think I’ll have to say … my favorite The Suit War character is … Winder Feight.

Does music influence your writing?

I don’t think it directly influences my writing, but I like to have it playing in the background while I’m writing.

Tell us about your main character:

Celia is a thirteen-year-old that is looked down upon by society because she was born the Ace of Hearts. She’s an intelligent girl that knows her suit is going to lose the suit war if something isn’t done. So when she discovers the possibility for her and the other three aces to put a stop to the fighting, she decides to go for it (even if that means putting all of their lives on the line).

Is your story based on a true story?

No, it’s not. But it’d be pretty cool if it could be!

How long have you been writing?

I started writing almost three and a half years ago, towards the end of my freshman year of college.

What made you start writing?

I wanted to take a creative writing class so that I could fulfill my undergraduate language arts requirement. So I wrote the required three-to-four-page writing sample for the application (my first short story!), and I’ve been hooked ever since!

What is your favorite genre to read?

My favorite genre to read is anything young adult, but especially paranormal, dystopian, and fantasy.

Anything else you want to say?

I want to thank anyone and everyone who has read any of my stories! I also want to thank you @theHygge for interviewing me!
