I was relived when she allowed us to go off for the day. I needed time to think and process what had happened. But I needed to at least know she'd acknowledged me. She seemed to be doing a good job at ignoring the situation. Far better than I was coping. She had just appeared out of no where with no warning. Four years had passed. I'd moved on, eventually, but had never spoken a word to anyone about our marriage. Not even my girlfriend of two years, Emma.

I was going to pretend nothing was wrong when Emma got home. And I wasn't too sure I'd be able to do that. I'd always been truthful with her. She knew all of my bad habits and my flaws. She completely understood and trusted me, despite my being away from home almost constantly. But this one, massive bit of my past, had never been discussed. It would crush her if she knew I was already married and worse still, now working with my secret wife.
