It wasn't her first real job. She'd helped me out years ago before disappearing. And judging by her reaction towards me, we weren't going to be admitting our past to anyone.

My jaw had hit the floor when I saw her hugging Woody. It had taken me a moment to realise who she was. She looked so different. Her hair was short and blond now and she looked the healthiest I'd ever seen her. I was shocked into silence. I hadn't seen her since the day she walked out of our home. Not a single word in over four years. I had however received thousands of pounds in cheques with no return address, which I'd torn up. I'd known exactly who they were from. And I would never have cashed them in.

And now here she was, essentially my boss for the next four weeks. And I didn't know what to do. My mind was racing with questions. Where the hell had she been all this time?
