Chapter 15

Peyton

I ran into the emergency room and up to a middle aged woman at the front desk.

"Hi um Luke Bryan.. Where is he?"

"Hmm we don't have any patient by the name of Luke-"

"Thomas! Thomas Bryan."

"Oh yes, he's in room 319 but I think he's in surgery."

"Surgery?!"

"Yes honey. I think you should save your questions for the doctor"

I sighed and ran my hands through my hair.

"Okay thanks."

I ran to Lukes room with Kallie right behind me and went in. He wasn't back yet so I just sat on a chair.

"He's gonna be fine Peyton. Luke's tough"

"I know.. I just-"

I was interrupted by doctors pushing Luke in. I stood up and covered my mouth with my hands. He was so pale and he had a blue/purple bruise under his right eye.

"Oh my gosh" Kallie said under her breath. I could feel tears spring up in my eyes again.

"Hi I'm Dr. Conrad" one of the doctors said.

"Peyton Becker"

"You his girlfriend?"

"Uh.. Yeah yeah."

"We thought so.. That's why we had nurse Cooper call you"

"How did you get my number?"

"We found Lukes phone on the floor of his truck. We unlocked it to get some numbers and his messages were opened up to your contact."

"Oh"

Was he gonna text me? Is that when he crashed?

"So why did he need surgery?" Kallie chimed in.

"Yeah.. Is he okay?"

"He needed surgery on his leg.. It got crushed when he crashed.. He'll be on crutches for awhile."

"So is he sleeping?"

"I guess you can say that.. He hasn't woken up. He might have a minor concussion."

"He hasn't woken up?!"

"No. He's breathing fine though. He'll wake up when he's ready"

"And when exactly will he be ready?"

"That's one answer I can't answer"

"Okay.. Thanks a lot" I said while shaking his hand.

"Of course. If you need anything ill be around here somewhere"

I cracked a smile and he walked out.

"Girlfriend?" Kallie asked.

"Yes.. I thought if I didn't say I was his girlfriend then they would kick me out until a family member came"

She smiled.

"He's gonna be so happy that you're here Pey"

"Yeah well the last thing I want is for Luke to get hurt. He didn't deserve this"

"You're right he didn't.. But look at you. You're so worried about him. Peyton I honestly think this was a sign"
