chapter forty eight: kamehameha

HINATA'S P.O.V.

I feel so sick to my stomach as Oikawa pushes me toward the front of the fortress. I hardly even hear the pep talk he gives me as my stomach rumbles so loudly. Then, when he sees me off, I don't even watch. I'm too bent over clutching my stomach to see him run away.

I slowly approach the front gate and shout over the top. "Hello?! Y/N?! Are you here?!" I call out, beginning my performance.

A few moments later I see a tall man with silver hair walking closer. He's got a big frown on his face and he looks as though his soul has been torn out of his body. "Who the fuck are you?" he grumbles as he begins to make out my face in the dark.

"My name is, uh, Sato," I try to say with a smile as I flatten out my newly dyed black hair. "I was wondering if Y/N was around. She usually helps me with my-" I then am rudely interrupted by my rumbling stomach- "problems..."

"Can't you just go take a shit somewhere else?" he scoffs as he begins to turn away.

"No, wait!" I shout as I let go of my stomach to hold out my hand toward him. "I have IBS. I could get really sick if I don't take medicine and Y/N's the only one around here who knows how to help! All I need is the pills she gives me, please!"

The man stops walking and turns around to face me once more. He sighs and walks towards the gate. I notice he looks behind me, making sure I'm alone, before unlocking it and allowing me through. I thank him profusely, keeping up the act, and following him inside quietly as though I really do believe he's leading me to Y/N.

"Wow, it sure does look different around here since the last time I came! Pills only last so long, ya know! I hope she's still got my stuff," I smile up at him.

"Right," he nods halfheartedly as he leads me across the camp. This place is absolutely ginormous as far as claiming territory in the middle of an apocalypse. I can see why Y/N wants to take it back.

The silver-haired man leads me to a rundown school bus that looks like it has had its guts ripped out and replaced with nice furniture. I can't lie- it looks sick!

Inside, I see Bokuto sitting on a couch. Instantly, I feel nauseous. The first thing I can think of to do is throw my hand to my mouth and run right down the bus' steps.

"Hey, where the fuck are you going?!" the man shouts after me. He makes it to the bottom of the steps before stopping.

I continue to run off until I reach a nearby garden. There, on the half-painted fence that looks like it's been neglected for quite some time, I place my arms and let out a deep breath.

"Hey, who are you?" I then hear from not so far away. A bit relieved that it isn't Bokuto's voice, I look up to see who's calling me.

When I see a man about my size with black and blonde hair, I feel a huge weight off my shoulders. Finally, I found him. Though I felt like such an idiot for running off on that other guy, I'm glad I did it now. I've finally met Kenma.

"My name's Hinata... Please don't kill me!" I say without really thinking.

"And why are you here? How'd you even get in?" he asks as he stands up from amongst the plants in the garden.

"Someone let me in but I kinda ran off. It's a long story. Look, I was just with Y/N. She wanted me to come talk to you," I begin to explain to him.

"Y/N?" he repeats. He then looks around for a moment before walking toward the garden's gate and approaching me. "Come on, let's go to my room."

"Your room?" I then ask as he begins to walk away. "Like a house?"

"Listen, I don't know what the fuck to call it. You want me to say it's my zombie fort or something? Let's just go," he grumbles aloud as he continues to walk off.

I quickly run after him to catch up, knowing he's the only safe person to talk to around here. I already had one close call, I don't want to be caught alone for a second time.

"Hey, what's the deal with you in the garden this late anyhow?" I then ask him, unable to sit in a quiet conversation the whole way back to his 'room'.

"Do you ever shut up?" he sighs. "Stop talking or you're gonna get yourself caught, idiot!"

"Sorry!" I respond, almost gasping. I don't know what I was expecting from Kenma, but I don't think this was it.

When we finally get to a small lodging, Kenma opens the door and tells me to go inside first. He was right, it is a singular room. It looks as though he's got everything he needs in there, too. Food, medical supplies, and a bunch of other equipment. Does the group here not share with each other?

I sit down on Kenma's cot as he closes the door behind himself. He then turns toward me with a more serious face and asks, "Now what do you mean you were just with Y/N? I swear to god, you better not be fucking with her, or I'll kill you right here."

"Woah, Woah, noooo! It isn't like that! Y/N and Oikawa came to me. They told me about... about everything going on around here... Oikawa and I were in prison together with Atsumu and Bokuto."

"So?" he scoffs. "What does that have to do with me? You want me to get kicked out of this place, too? Look, Y/N is a great person and all but I don't know what the fuck I'd do without this place. I've got my own game to play."

"It was Bokuto," I then whisper to him. His eyes widen as the words sink into his brain. I hardly need to give any context, but he knows exactly what I'm talking about.

"Yeah, right," he scoffs as his curiosity spikes. "Are you shitting me?"

"No!" I gasp as I shake my head profusely. "No, I'm being serious. Y/N and Oikawa need your help. They want to get rid of him. Man, you should've seen how pissed off she was," I chuckle to myself. But when I see how red Kenma's face is, I can tell he's equally as mad. I don't know the full story, but my guess is that Tsukishima wasn't the only victim around here.

"So what do you say?" I ask him nervous about how he'll react.

Kenma ignores me as he begins to pack up a bunch of his things into a large camping bag. "Shut up and help!" he whispers angrily at me. I get right to my feet and begin to help. Together, the two of us pack up most of his things and get ready to leave the camp.

On our way out, we stay as quiet as we can and rush toward the same entrance where the silver-haired guy let me in. Neither of us even look back as we make a dash toward my truck where the others are waiting.
