chapter six: senna obtusifolia

Y/N'S P.O.V.

After raiding the store for food, Bokuto goes back to laying down on the sofa in the bus while Kuroo follows in beside him. Outside in the parking lot, you stand next to Tsukishima.

"So what now?" you ask, squinting through the bright sun. "I suppose we're even."

Tsukishima nods but doesn't say anything for a moment as if he's deciding whether to say something or not. "Are you gonna be okay with that guy for three weeks?" he eventually gives in and asks.

"I'll be fine. He's injured anyway so he can't hurt me even if he wanted to," you assure him.

"What if one of those two finds your shotgun?" he then whispers, taking a step closer to you.

"They won't," you respond confidently. "I buried it under a sweater. They have no reason to go snooping under there."

Tsukishima shakes his head. "You don't know that."

"What do you care? Aren't you in the middle of saying goodbye?" you grumble.

"I think I'm going to stick around for a while. You said you needed the help after all and if something happens to you I get the whole bus to myself," he scoffs.

"What does that mean?" you narrow your eyes at him. "Don't think I trust you alone in there any more than I do them! Besides, there are four of us. I don't need all that help!"

"So?" he shrugs. "It'll be even less work you have to do."

"I don't have enough food to feed four of us! Let alone room in the bus to sleep and live!" you whisper sternly at him.

"I'll go back inside and get a tent then, no big deal."

"Jesus, Tsukishima! We're not at a fucking Walmart, they don't sell tents in convenient stores!" you continue to push.

"Then we'll go to one."

"Fine, if you're so determined to stay then I guess I don't have a choice. But one adventure is enough for me today, we can do that some other time. Tomorrow, if you want," you wave as you walk towards the bus.

"Fine," he grumbles.

"Fine," you huff as you step onto the bus.

Inside, you and Tsukishima stop side by side when you see Bokuto and Kuroo passed out on the couch.

"You see, everything is going to be fine. They're harmless," you tell him quietly.

"I hope you know what you're getting yourself into," he adds.

"You're getting yourself into it, too," you sing as you turn to face him. "We'll be fine. I promise."

Tsukishima nods. "Do you want me to drive us back?" he then asks.

"That'd be great considering I have absolutely no idea where we are..."

"Alright," he sighs. "Let's go."

You toss Tsukishima the keys and he steps over into the driver's seat. You then sit down at your small table with only three chairs and fold your arms to rest your head on. However, the second you fall asleep, Tsukishima pulls the bus back into the spot it had been this morning. Lazily, you lift your head and look out the window to see he's parked it just the way you always keep it- the perfect spot to let the sun through but to protect your goods from the dirt road.

Just then, your stomach rumbles. You remember the rabbit you had left outside of your gate and step outside to go retrieve it. You double-check the lock on your gate- still locked as you had left it- and pick up the small animal. When you turn around to walk back, you see Tsukishima standing just outside the bus door.

You hold up the rabbit by its legs to show him what you'll be having for dinner. "I don't think this is gonna be enough for the four of us but it's fresh so I can't let it go to waste."

Tsukishima lets out a sigh and looks at you with disgust in his eyes. "Do you really know how to cook that thing?"

"Of course I do," you say proudly. "I really hate running to the store alone so I taught myself to use what I can in the forest or the lake back there."

"Lake?!" Kuroo suddenly opens the door and peers out behind Tsukishima.

You smile when you see him step off the bus, forcing Tsukishima to move to the side to make room for him.

"Ooo," he then continues when he spots the dead rabbit in your hand. "What the fuck is that?!"

"Well it was going to be dinner but if nobody else wants it I'll just keep it for myself," your shrug.

"Be my guest," Kuroo nods with his hands on his hips. "You got any fishing poles instead?"

"I've only got one," you say as you point to the small wooden shack next to your garden. "Help yourself. The lake is only a short walk away."

Kuroo thanks you and walks over. Tsukishima shuffles along behind him, not wanting to starve, but not wanting to go off alone with Kuroo either. You do feel a bit bad for putting them to work right away but the food you got at the store isn't all that substantial for meals so it's wise to go out and catch fresh protein, too.

Kuroo is the first to find the fishing net and a small container of worms you had laying nearby which you collected yourself. He then smiles at Tsukishima as he holds out the container towards him. "You wanna carry the bait?" he asks.

"No," Tsukishima mutters as he takes it anyway.

"Have fun!" you wave as Kuroo shuts the shack and the two of them start to walk away. However, you hardly notice the large butcher's knife in your hand as you wave with a huge grin.

Kuroo laughs nervously when he turns back to see you. "You, too," he replies, "but, uh, not that much fun or you'll go to hell for murdering that poor bunny!"

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!" you shout back, smile still big on your lips.

Kuroo then nudges Tsukishima in the arms to take his eyes off of you. "C'mon, stop staring at her, and let's make tracks before the sun goes down!"
