So, I know this new storyline is a little out of the blue, but I felt like if we continued like the last two-three chapters it would be boring, and also because I wanted drama and I enjoy writing suffering almost as much as happiness.
Anyways!
I hope you'll enjoy this storyline and there'll definitely be more like this in the future, for both of them.

STEVE'S POV

My phone rang. It'd been almost 11 hours since Natasha had left, and I was on my way to look for her after trying to convince myself that I shouldn't, and that she was okay. But I knew something was wrong.
I picked up the phone, and my worst nightmares came true.
"Mr. Rogers, this is Dr. Warner. I regret to inform you, that we have Natasha Romanoff in our OR...and..."
"What!?" I yelled. "What hospital?"

When I had arrived, I bursted into the operating room after yelling at anyone who could tell me where she was, followed by guards, trying to get me out. And then I had seen her. On their table. In terrible condition. And I broke down.

"She's in bad condition, not only her outside injuries. She was drugged when she was found. This was most likely assault, and not an accident" Dr. Warner had told me after the operation.
She had spent four hours trying to get to her phone and call for help without dying in the cold September evening, and from the loss of blood.
"I'm afraid we have to get her in a medical induced coma, if we want her to live..."

"Steven!" A voice yells from the outside world, and I wake up from the recurring nightmare that's been haunting me the last month.
"You need to drink something" she says and hands me a glass of water.
"Thank you, Yelena" I say and chug the water in one mouthful as she go sit down on the other side of Natasha's bed.

Yelena had arrived two days after the surgery, and she had only left for a few days.
In those few days I was accompanied by Clint, who was almost as devastated as me.

And now here I am, in the end of October, hoping so desperately that she'll wake up after a month.
The doctors ended her induced coma two and a half weeks ago when she was finally stable, so now it's only a matter of time until she'll wake up. If she ever will.

Yelena whistles a tone and grabs onto Natasha's wrist after a moment of silence.
I look at Yelena.
"If anything'll wake her, I think it'll be that" I say with tearful eyes, and think about the morning Nat and I were in bed and she told me so enthusiastically about her and Yelena's whistles. Even taught me how it goes.
"She'll wake up. She will" Yelena nods convinced, but her lip trembles.
I nod and move closer to the bed, looking down at my Sleeping Beauty.
"I love you, so so much. Please, come back to me" I whisper and take her hand before I gently kiss her cheek.

"You love her very much?" Yelena asks.
"What? Of course I do" I say.
"Do you know why she left that night?" She asks, and I know she's been wanting to ask me for so long.
I sigh. "I asked her to marry me, and she freaked out" I tell her.
"Oh" Yelena chuckles. "You should be happy that she's even told you she loves you" she says.
"Asking a Widow to marry you is like asking someone to give up vodka, it's impossible" she continues.
"I wouldn't mind giving up vodka" I say and she looks terrified.
"What!? You'd give up vodka?" She asks loudly.
"Well, yes...I'm more of a bourbon guy" I say.
"Are you sure? I find that odd" she shrugs and looks at Natasha again.
"Actually I enjoy your sister's saliva more" I smile and look at Nat.
She frowns. "That is very disgusting. Stop talking about that right now" she says making me chuckle, and she laughs with me. It's nice to laugh a little again actually.

"You know, she's very lucky to have you as her sister" I say and look at Yelena when we're done laughing.
"You really think so? Because had I been a better one, I would've been there and she wouldn't be like this" she says.
"Had I been a better boyfriend, and I hadn't been frozen from her leaving, I would've gotten in a cab right behind her" I say, regretting that I ever let her leave.

"Mr. Rogers, Miss Belova, I'm afraid I have to ask you to leave the room. Miss Romanoff needs some rest" a nurse interrupts.
I look at my wristwatch. "But visiting hours aren't over" I say, and start to get worried.
"Is something wrong?" Yelena asks and her look shifts from the nurse, to Nat and to me.
"We have seen some...unusual activity in Miss Romanoff's vitals and..." the nurse says but her pager interrupts her.
She looks at it with fear in her eyes and then at Yelena and me.
"You really must leave the room now" she says and practically pulls us out of the room as a team of doctors and nurses runs to Natasha.

"What's going on? What's happening?" I scream and try to see if I can get a closer look.
"Mr. Rogers, sit down!" the nurse demands.
"Is she dying? Is my sister dying!?" Yelena screams and points at the door with tears in her eyes.
"I assure you we will do our best to make sure your sister is okay, Miss Belova" the nurse says and tries to keep us both in our seats.

We stay somewhat seated until the doctors roll Natasha out of the room demanding an OR immediately.
Both Yelena and I stand up, and the poor nurse has to try and get us seated again, but I can't worry about her.
Something is wrong with my Nat, and I need to figure out what it is.

I run after the doctors with Yelena right behind me, her yelling something in Russian, and I yell after Dr. Warner.
"What is going on?" I pant and walk fast to keep up with them, and put my hand in Nat's hair.
"The drug she had in her blood is unknown, and it hasn't been a huge problem until now, but it has interfered with her blood in a way we haven't seen before. Now stand back!" He says and they disappear behind a black door with access only for personnel.

Yelena stops next to me, with just as wet eyes as me.
"She will be fine" I say to calm us both down, but I don't think either of us believes it.

I hope this kind of storyline is okay. I did it both because of what I said in the first Author's note and because I wanted Yelena to be a bigger part of the story. I don't know for how long, but for now
