Chapter 141
DANIELLE'S POV
I gripped Casey's hand as I knocked on my parents' door. Today, we were going to tell them we were engaged, we were going to Casey's parents next.
"Danielle! Casey!" My mom exclaimed, hugging us both before letting us in.
"Hi mom." I smiled.
"Hi Mrs. Biersack." Casey said.
"What have I told you a million times Casey? Call me Alex!"
"Okay Alex." He chuckled.
"Is dad home?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"How's he doing?"
"He's spending all of his time worrying about your grandpa. Your grandpa is still taking this pretty hard."
"Well I can imagine."
"Yeah. Anyway, what's up?"
"Casey and I want to tell you guys something."
"Okay. Brandon! Casey and Danielle are here!" My mom called. "Why don't you two take a seat on the couch." She smiled. We walked over and sat on the couch. "Do you guys want anything? Food? water?"
"No, we're good." I said, squeezing Casey's hand.
"Okay." She said, sitting down on the opposite couch from us. My dad came down the stairs and into the living room, smiling at us.
"Hey." He said.
"Hi." We said.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"We need to tell you something." I said.
"Okay." My dad said, sitting down next to my mom.
"We're getting married." I smiled.
"Really?" My mom asked and I nodded, showing her my ring. "Danielle! This is great!" My mom exclaimed, getting up and hugging me and then hugging Casey. "Congratulations, both of you." She said. She grabbed my hand and examined my ring.
"Oh Casey, this is beautiful." She said.
"Thanks Mrs. Bi-I mean, Alex."
"Forget Alex, call me mom." She said, hugging both of us again. "Brandon? Aren't you happy?"
"Dad?" I tried.
"Oh, yeah, congratulations, very happy for you." My dad said.
"Brandon!" My mom exclaimed.
"Sorry, I've just got a lot of things on my mind. I'm very happy for you two." He said, forcing a smile at us. I felt so bad for him.
"You can't just clear your mind for a second to be happy for your daughter, Brandon? Your last daughter to get married!"
"Alex, you don't understand what I'm going through."
"Still, you can't be happy for a second?"
"Fuck this, I'm not arguing with you. I'm happy for you two." He said and left.
"I'm sorry about him." My mom said.
"It's fine, I understand. I'll see you later." I said, hugging her. She hugged Chris and then we left.
BRANDON'S POV
It's been a week since we last saw my dad. Blade, Bailey and I all went over to spend some time with my dad. Since he refuses to stay with one of us, we want to be with him as much as we can so he doesn't feel alone.
I knocked on the door but there was no answer. I turned the knob and opened the door, walkign in.
"Dad!" I called.
"Dad?" Bailey asked as we walked in. We looked at each other and then searched the entire downstairs. He was no where to be found but his car is in the driveway. We went upstairs and split up again.
"Blade! Bailey!" I called, seeing the door to the attic was open and the ladder was down. They came over and tried to look through the hole. I started to climb the ladder, my sisters behind me.
"Dad?" I asked, poking my head up. I saw my dad sititng on the floor of the attic, boxes surrounding him. "Dad." I said, going the rest of the way up and sitting next to him.
"Hi." He said, his voice cracking. I reached out and rubbed his back. He placed his head on my shoulder and started to sob.
"Why her? Why now? Why Brandon?"
"I don't know dad."
"I fucking hate this!" He exclaimed, kicking the box.
"What are you looking at?"
"Everything. I've been staring at her wedding vows to me for the longest time." He said, picking up an index card.
"Andy, where do I start. You are.... perfect. The man every woman wants to find to grow old with. You are just the best man ever. All five of BVB took me in when I needed someone most. I probaly wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for you guys. You have saved my life... so many times and I am so grateful for that. I had a bad childhood but... I wouldn't change one bit of it. If it wasn't for that, I probaly would've never had come in contact with you guys. I can't even start to explain how much I love you, how much I love all five of you for everything you guys have done. We have two beautiful kids together that I will love forever. I'm sorry for all the shit that I put you through within the past few years and I feel really bad but, hopefully we won't ever have to go through that again. I love you Andrew Dennis Biersack" He read.
"Wow." Blade said and he nodded.
"We have two beautiful kids together that I will love forever." He repeated. "That statement was so true. She loved all three of you so much. She loved your children and she loved Colton."
"She loved you too dad." Bailey said.
"I know, but not as much as I loved her. No one will ever replace her, no one." He said. He dug in the box and pulled out an album. He opened it and it was photos from their wedding.
"Hey Brandon, look, there's you." My dad smiled, pointing to a picture of my mom dancing with me. "And there's Blade." He said, pointing to a picture of my mom dancing with Blade.
"You look happy." Bailey said.
"This was one of the happiest days of our lives, next to the days you kids were born. Even though, your birthday was bittersweet." My dad chuckled, pointing to me. "The day we got married, we knew all of the shit we had gone through was behind us and we were going to be togehter until death did us part." He said.
"Wait, I've never heard the full story of what you and mom went through." Bailey said.
"Yeah, I love your stories." Blade smiled.
"The first time I saw your mom was when she had just ran away from her dad. Jinxx was an old friend so he brought her in and she stayed the night. The next morning, she walked into the kitchen and I knew I was in love. I was head over heels, it was like an angel had just walked in. Jinxx thought of her as a sister, so it took him a bit, but eventually he came around to the idea of us dating. We went through everything possible. Her dad kidnapping her and torturing her was right at the beginning of our relationship. Her dad went to jail and then got out and completley changed. He was dating this young girl, who kissed me on our wedding day and your mom freaked out and called off the wedding. She broke up with me and that was the hardest time for me. She tried making me jealous with a new boyfriend and I actually wrote Love Isn't Always Fair for her." He said with a smile.
"She found out she was pregnant and tried to kill herself. Sorry." My dad chuckled, looking up at me. "She didn't want to have the baby of the man she hated. We kept trying to convince her that I didn't cheat, but she wasn't believing it. Eventually we made up and got back together. Then, we got in that car crash. I didn't eat, I didn't sleep, I just stayed in her room. Once you were stable and out of the NICU, they put you in a seperate room since your mom was still in a coma and I moved back and forth between the rooms. I remember thinking and telling Jinxx, that if Harley died, I would've killed myself. I just couldn't imagine a life without her, I still can't. This all just doesn't seem real. Anyway, he convinced me to stick around for you and I did. Your mom woke up and we went home as a happy family. Then, you started having the lung problems, and I didn't think you were going to survive, so I tricked your mom so she would get pregnant with Blade. So, just incase you did die, we had another kid on the way." He said with a small laugh.
"Anyway, Blade was born and we got married and nothing else really happened that you guys don't know about." He shrugged.
"Wow." We all said and he nodded.
"I was hoping this would help me get better, it's just bringing back a bunch of memories." He sighed, throwing his arms down.
"Wait, dad." I said, grabbing one of his arms to see it littered with scars. I looked at the other one and saw 'Harley' carved into it, the eight scars from long ago, now red and new.
"Dad." I said, my voice cracking. He pulled his arms away from me and looked down.
"I know, I know, I'm a fucking failure, I'm a fuck up, I'm a hyprocrite. I've already called myself all of those names and more."
"Mom wouldn't want this." Blade said.
"I now know why your mom and you guys did this." He said, standing up and walking over to the window, looking out.
"Dad, you need to stop." Bailey said.
"I can't. I just can't."
"Dad, you're going to go overboard and you're going to fucking kill yourself!" I exclaimed, walking over to him.
"Well good! I fucking want to be dead!" He exclaimed.
"No you don't!"
"Yes I do! I want to be happy again, I want to be with your mom again!"
"Dad! Stop staying that!" This was now between him and I.
"LOSE YOUR WIFE AND SEE HOW YOU FUCKING FEEL!"
"YOU'RE STRONGER THAN THIS DAD, I KNOW IT!"
"NO, I'M FUCKING NOT! YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT I AM IF YOU'VE NEVER FELT MY PAIN!"
"DAD! I KEEP TELLING YOU, WE ALL LOST SOM-"
"BUT I LOST MY WIFE, BRANDON! MY LIFE PARTNER, THE PERSON I AM SUPPOSED TO GROW OLD WITH! NOW, I AM GROWING OLD ALL BY MYSELF! I JUST WANT TO DIE!"
"STOP SAYING THAT!"
"I WANT TO BE FUCKING DEAD!" I reached out and punched him in the face. He punched me back and we started fighting.
"STOP IT!" Blade exclaimed as her and Bailey broke us apart.
"YOU ARE FUCKING COMING HOME WITH ME AND STAYING AT MY HOUSE UNTIL YOU SERIOUSLY GET OVER THIS!"
"NO! FUCK THAT! I AM A GROWN MAN, I DON'T NEED A FUCKING BABYSITTER!"
"DAD! I AM WORRIED ABOUT YOU! YOU HAVE NO CHOICE, YOU ARE COMING TO STAY WITH ME!"
"Dad, please." Blade begged.
"Dad, it's better if you have someone to go through this with. You don't want to stay in this house all alone, do you?" Bailey asked.
"Fine." He grumbled, leaving the attic.
"Next time, try to talk to him without punching him." Blade said as her and Bailey left the attic. I sighed and leaned against the wall, rubbing my cheek where my dad hit me. I walked out and waited for about five minutes until my dad had some bags packed.
"Let's go." He said, walking out to my car. I said bye to Blade and Bailey, my dad and I getting in the car and going to my house. I walked in and sent him up to the guest room.
"Alex, my dad's going to stay here for a while." I said, walking into the kitchen.
"Ok-what happened to your face?"
"My dad and I got in a fight." She went into the freezer and brought out two bags of frozen food, one for my cheek and one for my eye.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Sure." I shrugged.
***
About an hour later, I walked up to my dad's room to see him laying on the bed, his phone to his ear.
"Who are you calling?"
"Your mom." I stopped and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Her voicemail. I'm not that crazy, yet." He said. "Here." He said, handing me the phone.
"Hi, this is Harley. Sorry I couldn't get to the phone. If you could leave your name and number, I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you." The voice recording said. I handed my dad his phone and wiped my eyes. I hadn't heard my mom's voice in so long.
"When I'm upset, I just, listen to her voicemail. It calms me down." He smiled.
"Dad, I'm sorry about earlier. I'm just really worried about you."
"It's okay Brandon, I'm sorry too. I'll be better soon, I'm just having a really hard time accepting the facts."
"I know, I love you."
"I love you too Brandon." He said, walking over to me and hugging me.
