We're all unique. But we somehow share the same story. Especially living in a world filled with fear. I've known one specific individual who has shown bravery and camaraderie like no one else in this godforsaken world we live in. People tend to call that person "The Light of Humanity", I've met that person, and I wasn't proven wrong. That person was indeed Humanity's Light. And I am proud to have that person become one of my students.
This is coming from someone who knew Humanity's Light before anyone else. Well, I'd say who took Humanity's Light under her wing...haha..
My name is Sylvia, I am the Chief Intructor after Keith Shadis. I care for the training and the evaluation for each person who wishes to join the military. Now, just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I'm softer than Shadis. Oh no, I'm far worse. I was taken under Shadis' wing when I was very young, he allowed me to join the military when I was only at the age of thirteen, I'm currently eighteen now and is the youngest cheif there is. I've handled over twenty Trainee Squads, and all of them are part of the Survey Corps, The Garrisons and the Military Police now, scared shitless and whatnot...I've contributed quite a lot for Humanity's survival, training wanna-be soldiers for what's to come. I polish them to become like holy soldiers and so on, because I don't want anyone else to experience what had happened to me.
Like any other soldier, I've seen countless of those godforsaken titans eat my comrades. I've lived a life of betrayal and doubts. I can die anytime, I'm not like those titan-shifters. And there were also times where I try to take my own life, but I couldn't. For who would polish these ambitious youngsters to become the soldiers we are today? Shadis is no longer around, that brute retired long ago. And he specifically gave me this role, I can't let him down. I never had any friends, to be honest. The closest relationship I could have was between teacher and student. I have never felt the warmth of a hug, I only shake hands. I never smiled for anyone, let alone to my students. That is, until you came.
You know, (y/n), you've changed everyone's lives, especially mine. Want me to recall what legacy you've brought upon this world?
You were just a toddler when I found you during one of the expeditions. To think a human could play peek-a-boo with a 3 meter titan! I was glad I could save you before you were eaten, though you did threw a tantrum saying I kept you and your friend a part. I returned you to the orphanage, but you somehow managed to follow me back to my cabin. And I decided to adopt you as my sibling. I planned on raising you like how Shadis raised me, but instead, I wanted you to be loyal and kind to everyone.
The happy part is that you grew into something I never was. You had so many friends, that Jaeger kid, Ackerman, Arlert...those twenty year old Survey Corps members. And did you remember Captain Levi picking you up by the scruff of your collar? I never laughed whole heartedly in all of my life. And you turned thirteen, you were ready for the military. And you were more than willing to join, you were jumping up and down when you received your Trainee uniform. But you also complained a lot about my serious training.
"Come on, (y/n)! It's just seven sets of ten turning kicks!" I would encourage.
You'd moan and do it anyway, and I was contented. Especially when you graduated Top One. But it was now the time where you would choose which platoon you'd join.
But when each commanders of the three platoons came and announced that the succeeding Top Ten would have a chance to spend one day in their platoon, you came running to me, begging me to accompany you. I had nothing better to do, since I didn't have fresh meat to tenderize for the time being.
So you tried out for the Military Police first,
And oh dear Maria did you hated it. Everyone was snobby and boastful, hiding behind the safe walls of Sina. But you became friends with the Leonhardt girl.
"If you know what's best for you, stay out of my way," Annie would snarl. "But you can be my friend."
That girl was definitely weird. So, you left the Military Police after a day and continued to the Garrisons. Everybody was drunk off their asses and I wanted to punch the living hell out of your other classmates who you graduated with and joined the Garrisons, they were drinking their asses off. You and I left before the sun could rise.
Then you trotted all the way to the Survey Corps' base camp. You saw soldiers here and there training, planning and grooming their horses. You and I went up to Commander Hanji Zoe, while she was talking to Captain Levi and former Commander Erwin.
"Ah, it's Sylvia and (y/n)! Came to experience the life of a Scouting Legion?" Hanji smiled, you nodded enthusiastically.
"Let me just remind you, kid," Levi said. "The only thing we're allowed to do...is to believe that we won't regret the choices we've made."
"If you join the Survey Corps, there will no turning backs. I believe you can tell Sylvia your final decission when you're ready. No?" Erwin smiled.
"Yes, now please excuse us. I'll get (y/n) settled in." I said and saluted, you followed and left with me to your cabin. When you opened it, you were greeted with a smiling blonde.
"Welcome, (y/n)! Chief Sylvia!" Armin said happily.
"Heya, (y/n)!" Eren greeted.
"Goodafternoon." Mikasa nodded.
Your face was filled with joy when you saw your friends, you greeted them and began telling stories. I left the four of you in peace.
As a loyal soldier that mankind trusts so much, I was invited to join the Survey Corps' 100th Expedition. You were also there, as an S.C. Trainee.
"We are about to go on our one hundredth expedition around these walls. The titans have reduced a bit but the danger is still quite high. You are ordered to keep your guards up and stay in your positions until we, and Chief Sylvia says so. Understood?" Levi announced. You and the rest shouted in agreement and you furrowed your brows, I was watching you from the front, worried and quite proud.
And so, we watched as we waited for the gate to open. And when it did, Hanji yelled and went off, Captain Levi and I followed, and the first batch until the last.
After the expedition, only ten percent of the whole Survey Corps was reduced. We managed to get information, however a few lives, and maybe limbs were at place. When we got back, Captain Levi and Hanji called us both, along with Levi's squad.
"(Y/n), we would be honored if you joined the Survey Corps, Levi's squad will have one open spot when Historia takes over." Hanji said to you.
"Historia...? You mean Historia Reiss? I thought the girl was dead!" I cried, slamming my fists on the table. A blonde girl walked to the front, eyes casted down. I knew her, Krista Lenz.
"I-I'm....Historia...Reiss.." She mumbled.
Your eyes and mine grew big, and after some thorough explaining from the Survey Corps, you said you didn't want to join any platoon just yet, you wanted to stay as a Trainee until all this chaos would stop. And honestly, everybody accepted that.
"We understand, but we could use a helping hand." Eren said.
I remember you clinging on to my sleeve, your hand trembling. I held it and decided to speak for you.
"To help Historia to take over the throne, and destroy its anarchy for once and for all...to finally get rid of those godforsaken titans. I will lend my hand to the Survey Corps." I said determingly, you nodded after wards and saluted.
So Phase One began. We kidnapped so many important people, hiding Erwin Smith from anyone who wanted him imprisoned. He was declared guilty by the citizens of Sina for countless of deaths. We were successful in this operation, and we ended up hiding the past commander in an abandoned barn in the outskirts of Rose.
"Don't worry about me, (y/n). You've all kept me safe and sound, this is enough for me." Commander Erwin replied after you apologized for the unsettling place he had to stay in. You sighed and nodded before you replaced his bandange on his decapitated arm.
"We're getting closer to our goal. We just need to work harder and threaten more..." Captain Levi reported.
"I-if you put it that way...c-captain...we'd look like...w-we're the bad guys..." Armin stuttered.
We all agreed by nodding, and Captain Levi just rolled his eyes.
Unfortunately, while you and I were picking up some supplies in a nearby town, a man, who maybe have been drunked, bumped into you and started getting pissed off. You apoligized again and again until I stepped in between you.
"Wait a minute...you're one of those Survey Corps traitors!" A woman yelled, and everyone immediately began murmuring to one another. You instinctively hid behind me as I clutched my knife under my cloak. The townspeople began getting more and more aggrivating until they glared at us. Insticts might've told you to run because you did, dragging me along. The townspeople had call a group of Military Police and they chased after us.
You dragged us along through alleys here and there, making sharp turns every where. But unfortunately, the Military Brigade had their Maneauver Gear and caught us. However, I was the one in chains while you hid behind a crate.
"Where's the other one? Weren't there two of 'em?!" One MP said.
"Who cares? At least we got one of them!"
And they took me away, I saw you run away and I couldn't help but get scared.
I was locked in a prison cell underneath a house in which I presume was in Wall Maria. Where I saw some laboratory instruments that Hanji would know about. These containers had green fluids which then was placed inside a syringe. And to my devastation, titans were everywhere, all unable to move because of the straps around their limbs. I tried to swallow my fear but I was unable to, as they soon pile up more fear.
Then, a man appeared, he was grinning broadly and told me that these titans were once humans. And that these syringes where the reason how they turned into those monsters. I couldn't believe it.
The man had planned to inject me with the green fluid in five days. I began searching around for an escape, unfortunately I found none.
Until the man had been restrained by none other than....you!
You had appeared behind the man and put him to sleep. As you finished, you ran to my cell and held my hand. You unlocked the doors and let me out, and hugged me tight.
Eren had appeared, "everything's going as plan! Chief Sylvia has been saved, Corporal!"
And Levi appeared, "perfect. Come on up, you probably need the sunlight. I'll have Hanji and Moblit search this place."
The day of joy has finally come for mankind. The time where our sacrifices has paid off. That prison cell that I was locked in was actually Eren's basement. And now we know what it has inside, it has given us the opportunity to take back Wall Maria. But that's for another time.
Historia was crowned queen, Erwin was declared not guilty, the three platoons now serve mankind the way they should. I had begun training new Trainees, and you, still had to choose which platoon you wanted to join.
The Survey Corps continued scouting more areas of Wall Maria, eveb reaching the wall itself, and deaths have decreased abundantly. The Garrisons aid the needy, giving them food to eat and water to drink, The Military Brigade looks after their new queen and sometimes join the Garrisons and Survey Corps in their activities.
In the middle of the training ground stood you, Humanity's Light. Surrounded by a banner of the Survey Corps, Garrisons and the Military Brigade. I was patiently waiting for you. All the other Top Nine had already chose which platoon they'd join. Majority of it joined the Survey Corps.
"Well, (y/n)?" I said.
You smiled and nodded and pointed to a banner.
Let's see what Humanity has instored for you.
