Finn’s POV
Walking back to Rachel’s room I see through her bedroom window that spencer is in there, she’s putting a disc in the DVD player. I start to walk away but spencer makes eye connect with me and I hear her tell Rachel that she’ll be right back. Within seconds spencer is standing right in front of me and her eyes went directly to the bouquet of flowers in my hand. Her eyes slowly look back into mine as she says
“Those for Rach?” I look down at the flowers that were wrapped in pink with gold stars and smiled
“Yea, sorry I just left like that. I didn’t want to interrupt you two.” She nods slightly, she quickly looks at Rachel through the window, seeing her smiling while reading all her ‘get well’ cards.
“You want to go in there and talk to her?” I swallow, trying to figure out how to reply.
“y-yea, if that’s ok” she nods
“Just take it easy on her, she’s been through a lot remember?” I frown reflecting on everything and remembering I caused everything,
“I’ll be out here” spencer says walking towards the waiting room.
Walking near the doorway of Rachel’s hospital room I feel my hands begin to shake. Taking a deep breath I reach out to twist the door handle. And then before I knew it I was standing in the same room as the love of my life, my soul mate. Then woman that I haven’t been able to forget ever since I met her.
She was looking down at her cards and smiling cheerfully. As soon as she hears the door close she looks up and that’s when her smile fades. My heart instantly drops and it saddens me that she’s not happy to see me. There’s no sign of a smile anywhere. And it’s heartbreaking
“Hi” I say a little bit louder than a whisper.
She says nothing, instead she just continues to stare at me, almost in shock. I didn’t know what to do so I just stood there for what seemed like for ever. But then I noticed that she shifted her eyes to the flowers I was still holding.
“Um I got you these, I saw the wrapping paper and I thought of you straight away” I walk over to the little table beside her bed and place the flowers down. She moves around on the bed to make her more comfortable and I offer to help her with her pillows but she declines by shaking her head and without saying a word. I sit on the chair facing her bed and look up at her. She’s so skinny, how can I not know what was happening?
“I’m glad you’re ok” I smile at her hoping that will earn me just a small smile from her. But still nothing.
I know I caused her hell, but now I’m just confused. I haven’t heard her sweet voice in so long and I don’t know why she’s not talking to me. Sitting there in silence, I soon realise I haven’t apologized for everything I’ve done, well here i go
“I’m so sorry” I look straight into her eyes. We keep intense eye contact for a few seconds before she starts to shake her head, confusion strikes me straight away.
“It’s not your fault, I let too many things get to me.” she says softly and I can’t help but smile because this is the first times she’s talked to me. But I know that it wasn’t her fault, it was mine.
“No, I’m sorry for everything, from Quinn to the Baby to recently.” She looks at me and then to the door
“I’m gonna kill Spencer!” she shakes her head
“I’m the one you should be wanting to kill, I never knew that you were going through all that, I was so stupid and I feel terrible. I should’ve known that you were that hurt.” I explain
She remains looking at the door as I her sniffle. Is she crying?
“Rach, look at me” I see bringing myself out of the chair to sit next to her on the bed so I’m facing directly in front of her.
She wipes away her tears before looking at me and I can see her eyes are watery. Slowly i bring my thumb to her cheek catching a falling tear that was gradually rolling down.
“Thank you for the flowers” she mumbles
“You’re very welcome” finally realizing that my thumb is still rubbing her cheek I decide to take it away and the look on her face was like she missed the contact
The room was dead silent again, neither of us knew what to say to each other. Looking around the room I finally notice the food tray in front of her.
“I’m glad to see you eating again” I smile at her and she automatically smiles back.
“that’s exactly what spencer said” I nod, knowing spencer would say something like that, in the cafeteria before she told me everything we were saying that we will both try and get Rachel to eat no matter what.
“She really cares about you, she was worried sick” I exclaim, while she looks down
“What about you? Were you worried about me?” she asks looking me in the eyes once again
“How could you ask that, of course I was? I was freaking out!” I cry
Looking down to avoid her eyes because I’m trying to avoid bawling my eyes out, I suddenly feel her hand on my hand. I look over to her hand and see her entwining her fingers into mine.
“I’m right here, you can’t get rid of me that easy” she giggles, I have been waiting to her that little giggle for so long and now I’ve finally heard it, it’s the only sound that makes my heart skip a beat.
“Finn you need to know that nothing is going between Sam and I” she sits up and starts rambling on.
“I know, and once again I feel terrible that I said those awful things to you.” She slowly calms down
“It’s ok” she leans over and kisses my cheek, her lips linger on my cheek savouring the moment.
“Oh, am I interrupting something?” Of course spencer has to interrupt us now!
“No, not at all. Finn was just saving me from you putting on another episode of Pretty Little Liars” Rachel chuckles
“Ignoring that hurtful comment….. The doctor wanted to come in to talk to you, is that ok?” looking at Rachel I could tell that she really wished that spencer didn’t interrupt.
“Absolutely!” Rachel says lying back down on the bed, as I sit back down in the chair to wait for the doctor.
A couple minutes later the doctor walks into the room flipping through Rachel’s file.
“Hello Rachel how you feeling?” Rachel looks at me and answers:
“Great!” the doctor nods and writes something down
“Good, hopefully you could get back on stage soon, my younger daughter is a big fan of you”
“Really? That awesome!” Rachel’s face practically lights up.
“We came to your show last year, you were amazing!” he forgets about the medical stuff and starts to talk to Rachel about her Broadway career
“Well I would love to meet her someday!” Rachel says in way that makes it seem like a question, like she was asking if she could meet a fan of hers
“That would be great” the doctor agrees
“Yea, Rachel’s amazing with kids.” I suddenly pipe up without thinking.
“Finn stop it!” I was not expecting Rachel to snap like that, I was giving her a compliment
“What, Rach I was just saying that you’re really good with kids; you’re going to be a great mother one day.” And that was the moment when she was looking at me that I saw Rachel’s face change from a bright smile to what almost look like pure hurt. What did I say wrong? From hurt it changed to confusion. She then looked directly at spencer and said
“You didn’t tell him?” Now I’m the confused one. What else is there to be told?
