Mariana woke up to the sound of the pilot announcing the local time and weather in Chicago and then repeating himself in Korean. As she went to sit up, she noticed her left shoulder was heavier than normal and looked over to see Suga's grey beanie-covered black hair rested on her shoulder.
'Holy, shit. That wasn't a dream...What do I do? Wake him up? But he looks so precious like this. But the plane's landing. Okay. So, just poke him? Maybe? I don't know! What's the proper procedure to wake up your ultimate bias when he's fallen asleep on your shoulder?!...... There's a sentence I never thought would seriously come from me....'
Her thoughts ran around wild as Suga stirred, finally waking up, and realizing he'd slept on Mariana's shoulder. He sat up a bit quickly like he thought it was a burden for her. "죄송 해요." [I'm sorry.] He said with a little nod.
"괜찮아. [It's okay.] Really, I don't mind." She assured him before they fell into a slightly awkward silence as the plane's momentum started going down for a short period before leveling out again.
"I have really liked talking to you." Suga finally broke the silence. "Do you...Do you think I could have your phone number so we can keep talking?"
Mariana smiled as her heart tried to leap out of her chest. "Yes, absolutely." She said with a smile and they both swapped phones to type their numbers in.
"Thank you." Suga said with a wide smile as they traded phones back.
"Maybe when we're both back in Korea, we can find time to hang out?" Mariana curiously asked.
Suga nodded with a smile. "I would like that. I hope we can."
'Did Min Flippin' Yoongi just say he wants to see me again?! AAAHHHH! HOLY F****** SHIT!!! I'm going to die happy now!' Mariana's inner fangirl raved as she had to actively keep herself from wiggling around in excitement.
The plane descended and leveled out again as they both just observed the new numbers in their phones, Mariana holding off the temptation to pick a contact photo for him that second.
"Mariana. That's very pretty." Suga said with a smile as he looked back over to her.
Mariana put a hand over her temple as her jaw dropped a bit. "Oh my gosh, I never actually told you my name. That was so rude, I'm so sorry." She rambled out, Suga chuckling.
"It's okay. No big deal, promise." He assured her.
"I feel so bad." Mariana admitted and moved her hand back into her lap.
"Really, it is fine," Suga said with a smile and the plane descended and leveled out a third time.
"Okay. If you're sure."
"Yes. Stop worrying, you're worse than Jimin." He teased her a bit and they both laughed.
The plane made its final descent as they heard Jimin from the seat to Namjoon's right. "Hey, I heard that!" He exclaimed in their direction, eliciting a laugh from all the other members surrounding them.
"Yeah, and?" Suga asked him even though they couldn't actually see each other.
"And ....... 왜 예쁜 여자 옆에 앉아 나올까요?
[Why does he get to sit next to the pretty girl?]" Jimin started but trailed off into a mumble as he left the conversation, leaving Mariana blushing with her lips bit together.
"He's not wrong about that. You are very pretty." Suga told her with a smile, chuckling when her cheeks grew even redder. "And that is the cutest shade of red I have ever seen." He added just to see if she could get any redder.
'Wait a minute. Is he just being nice, or is he trying to flirt with me?.... Dear God, what did I do to deserve this kind of luck?' Mariana thought to herself as the wheels on the plane hit the ground, and everyone could feel the momentum going from super speed to a walking pace. "I guess it's almost time to get off." She said, trying to change the subject.
Suga just nodded to her. "It is. You should message me when you get home... To make sure we have the right numbers."
"오, 용기에는 여자 친구가있다!" [Oh, Yoongi has a girlfriend!] They heard from in front of Suga.
Suga reached over the back of the chair directly in front of him and thumped the guy's head. "닥쳐, 진! 그녀는 너를 이해할 수있어!"
[Shut up, Jin! She can understand you!]
"Oh, even better!" Jin excitedly exclaimed as he turned enough in his seat to see Mariana and Suga. Suga, giving him a death stare to get him to refrain from saying whatever he was going to say next.
"두 번째 생각에서 나는 살기를 더 좋아합니다."
[On second thought, I prefer to live.] He started then looked to Mariana. "Nice to meet you." He said to her with a nod and disappeared back to his seat as the plane started to park.
"Just like a sibling." Mariana said with an amused smile.
"You have no idea." Suga said in exasperation and the pilot came over the intercom to announce that the plane had fully stopped, so everyone could unbuckle and grab their overhead carry-ons.
Mariana stood with Suga and slung her backpack over her shoulders as Suga stepped out into the aisle. He looked to Mariana once he had turned around to grab his carry on. "Which one is yours?" He asked as he put his hand on his own bag.
"The light blue one with ribbons on the handle. Thank you." She said and squeezed by him before he pulled the bags down, handing Mariana the handle to her bag.
Once they were off of the plane and in the walkway into the actual airport building, Suga quickened his step so he was walking right next to Mariana. "Are the ribbons from every place you've been?"
Mariana looked over at him with a little smile. She was pleasantly surprised he wanted to walk next to her. "Yeah. Every time I go to a new country, I tie a different color onto the handle." She explained as she watched him adjust his face mask to help hide his face from any paparazzi.
"Really cool. I'd run out of handles within a year." He said with a smile in his voice, also slightly muffled by his face mask.
Mariana chuckled a bit. "Yeah, You guys travel a lot."
Suga nodded. "We're on a plane several times a year. It depends on the current tour schedule."
"That's crazy. I'd lose my mind." Mariana said with a little chuckle as they passed into the airport.
Suga chuckled with a little smirk evident in his tone."I thought I would too. You figure out how to adjust." He admitted then took the lead towards security.
"Where did everyone else go?" Mariana asked as she looked around and realized she couldn't see any of the other members.
"They'll be at baggage claim. We've all done this enough now we tend to just split up then regroup before we leave the building." It's easier than trying to stick together." Suga explained.
"Makes sense." Mariana said with a nod. "Come on, we'd better pick up the pace and get through security. Don't want to keep the others waiting too long."
"Oh, they'll be okay. I am usually always last." Suga admitted with a shrug.
Mariana smiled at him. "I usually am too in a group setting." She said as they approached the first security checkpoint.
"Suga-Hyung!" They heard from behind them. They turned around to see Jimin hurrying towards them, his face mask on too. "Is this the girl you slept on the whole flight?" He eagerly asked.
"Jimin!" Suga exclaimed as his eyes went wide in surprise.
"What? You did use her as a pillow. See?" Jimin stated and showed them both the picture on his phone, Suga's head on Mariana's shoulder as they both slept. Mariana was hiding a smile. It really was an adorable picture.
"I cannot believe you camera stalked me...again." Suga groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose through his mask.
"I'm Park Jimin, by the way." Jimin introduced himself to Mariana and stuck out his hand.
Mariana took his hand with a smile and gave it a firm shake. "Nice to actually meet you. I'm Mariana. Or Ana. Whatever you prefer."
"She's ARMY." Suga stated as he saw Jimin's curiosity surface when Mariana used "actually".
"ARMY!" Jimin happily exclaimed with a smile and hugged her.
"Oh, wow. Okay." Mariana smiled out and hugged him back.
"Jimin, didn't I talk to you about not hugging random people?" They heard Namjoon tease him as he approached the group, also with a face mask on.
"She's ARMY!" Jimin happily smiled out as he let go of Mariana.
"ARMY? Well, then I'm really glad to meet you...."
"Mariana. Or Ana." She finished Namjoon's sentence.
"Mariana." Namjoon repeated with a nod and a smile. "Hopefully Suga wasn't too obnoxious for you." He teased as he tucked his hands into his pockets.
"Seriously?! Were you all spying on me?" Suga asked in slight aggravation as the group moved through the line in the security checkpoint.
"We couldn't help it. You two were adorable." Namjoon continued his joking with a shrug.
Suga groaned and mumbled something under his breath, a bit too muffled by his face mask for Mariana to understand him at that low of a volume.
The four eventually made it through security and to their appropriate baggage claim, meeting up with Taehyung, Hoseok, Jin, and Jungkook at the baggage claim. They all helped each other grab their bags, talking to Mariana and making jokes with each other until everyone had all their bags. Mariana also had ended up switching numbers with Jimin, J-hope, and Namjoon and was requested to actually use their numbers and at least catch up from time with them, to which Mariana happily agreed to do.
The group of eight walked to the pick-up area, the boys making sure Mariana found her parents before they went on their way to find the van picking them up. Mariana waved goodbye to all of them and got inside her dad's white Chevy truck as her dad put her bags into the covered tailgate before he got all the doors closed and they took off for their four-hour drive home.
