Chapter 6: Anti-Kira Premises
Your Point of View ( First Person )
"The office is right this way. Please feel free to enter." A man said as he directed me to where Near's at. The door opened and what is supposed to be an 'office' was scattered with dice cubes, puzzles, and blocks. Dominos are around the place as well as Tarot Cards that was made to stand as towers. I was being extra careful not to knock any of them.
Near was sitting on the floor piecing a white and blank puzzle together. His leg, raised up as he placed his hand there in support.
His head turned to me immediately. "Greetings, (Y/N). I welcome you to the Anti-Kira Premises." Near greeted, aloof. It was as if his expression never changes, just the plain old blank look.
"I'm going straight to the point. Why did you want me to join the Kira Task Force?" I asked him, pulling out a lollipop from my pocket and started eating it. He must have remembered something by the movement because he stared at me for a few seconds.
"You're quite similar to L," Near said, twirling his hair with his fingers. Pointing to the love I have for sweets, just like the famous detective, L.
"You didn't answer my question," I told him, clicking my tongue. while still eating the lollipop. Its strawberry taste lingered in my mouth as I stared at him.
He sighed. "After what happened a few weeks ago, I was confused on how you acted, then from there, you mentioned Kira. I immediately knew that Kira had made a move and killed your family, my instincts told me that you're probably planning for revenge that's why you blew up the house, managed to do some works on your existence then erased traces of your real face and name. When I thought about it, joining the Kira Task Force would offer less dangerous risks." Near told me.
"I was just asking why do you want me to join the Kira Task Force. I didn't ask for some long explanation." I replied in a monotone, giving him my most bored look.
"But the explanation is the answer to your question." He quarreled.
Oh yes, did I mention? He's a childish one. He hates losing, I don't really blame him for that because it's human nature. His monotone demeanor fights it, though.

"Okay then, let's start with your alias," Near told me, twirling his hair again, it's one of his habits.
"Alias? I already have an alias right? F/N Akamine?" I replied.
"If you're going for a fresh start, then change your old alias," Near said in a monotone. Honestly, his monotone voice is getting annoying.
"Tch, Okay then." I told him, along with my habit of doing my signature 'Tch', of course, it was developed for watching too much Attack on Titan and reading a million AOT fanfictions.
"I'll go with X."
"Why do you often say 'Tch'.?" Near questioned.
"It's a habit I got." I replied, "How about you? Why are you always keeping a monotone voice?" I asked him.
"It has been that way since." He replied. Then continued, "Your room is near mine, call me if you need anything."
"My room is 'near' yours."
"Please go back to your room. You would need rest." He said, ignoring me teasing about his name.
"Does Near-boy hates being mocked?" I teased.
"I kindly ask you to refrain from teasing me. (F/N)." He called out my fake name looking straightly at me. He sounds like a strict mother.
"Near?" I said in an overly sweet tone.
"What?" He said, dropping his monotone roughly for 0.1%, and yes the decimal matters.
"Shut Up, Mom," I said in a sharp voice then sighing all of a sudden when I remembered my mother. For Near, of course, this didn't go unnoticed.
"Why the sudden sigh?" He asked.
"You're Near, L's successor. Do you really have to ask?" I replied, crossing my arms and leaning on the door frame.
"Not really," Near said, twirling his locks. Damn, does he always do that? Probably.
"Good Night then," I told him, facing away and started walking.
I'm not sure, but I think I heard a faint sound of his monotone voice, saying, "Night... (Name)"
That must be my silly imagination again. I found my room and plopped down the bed. Turning off the lights, I really couldn't sleep. My mind wandered off the day after my family got killed.
How was it that I was able to contain my emotions, even as far as now?
Was it because of Near? Or is it something else?
I never knew, that soon enough, I'll know the reason why. And I won't like it.
