My back began to ache as I swept the last few little pieces that was on the floor .
For the past two weeks , I been cleaning and throwing away broken items that was in the house . And in the past two weeks , Jermaine has not returned home .
Two fucking weeks .
I have not called to see where he been . I haven't tried to contact him in no shape or form nor did he contact me .
Which to be completely honest , I'm glad . I do not want to see him . I could care less for him at the moment .
My bruises and my scars are fading away . A few are still noticeable and many left permanent marks .
As I finished up , my cell began to ring .
I placed the broom in the corner of the kitchen and went to get my phone from the couch .
I didn't even care to look at the i.d .
"Hello." I answered
"Wassup sissy." My sister cheered .
"Wassup." I said , not matching her excitement .
"What's wrong ? Why you been m.i.a?"
I sighed , "Busy."
"Bitch stop stunting , you don't got no job."
I was stunned by her grammar more than her bluntness .
"Bitch swerve with your insufficient ass." I scolded .
She laughs , "Whatever. Come to the park with me."
"I don't feel-"
"I'm coming to get you in less than thirty minutes."
"Bi-"
She disconnected the call .
I shook my head then threw my phone on the couch . I went upstairs to take a quick shower and to change clothes .
Maybe it would be nice to get out the house . I need a break and a whiff of fresh air .
Within twenty minutes , I was brushing my hair into a high ponytail .
I simply had on a white tank top with khaki capris with my matching white sandals .
When I was done with my hair , I looked in the mirror once again . I noticed a few bruises were visibly shown throughout my chest so I decided to put on a basic blue tshirt .
"You're fine on your casual days sis."
I wasn't even startled . I knew Amber was gone use the spare key that Jermaine have given her .
"Thanks boo." I said not even acknowledging her .
"Let's go." She said .
She grabs my hand and we made our way down stairs . She skipped to my couch and grabbed my phone .
She handed it to me and as she walks pass me , I couldn't help but get a whiff of a scent that seems to be stuck on her .
More of a cologne smell . It was delightful .
My intentions were to compliment her but then the smell became too familiar . That smell is one of a kind . The type of smell that travels over seas .
Not too many people here have that cologne . The name is unknown to me but it was very known that the smell was oddly similar to Jermaine's cologne .
I eyed her as she went down the little steps that led to my front door . I locked the door then proceeded to walk to her car.
She got in on the drivers side as I got in the passenger side .
"Ready to go?" She cheeses .
"Yelp." I fake smiled .
She started the car then drove off .
The car ride was silent . It was somewhat calming . We didn't even have the radio on .
Before I knew it , she began to park the car in a parking spot .
"Remember we use to come to this park all the time." She said .
I nodded my head .
"You pushed me down the slide and I landed on my knee." She playfully punches me in my shoulder .
I faked laugh , "Good times."
She chuckles then exited the car . I did the same .
I was slowly dragging my feet wishing I would've stayed home . Amber was ahead of me eagerly ready to explore the park like a little kid .
"Come on." She begs .
When my attention went to her , it quickly shifted to her belly .
Amber is a petite woman . She always been thin so seeing a small bulge from her belly was shocking .
The craziest thing about it is that I'm probably the only one who would notice .
As I joined her on the track , she grabs my hand . We began to swing our hand back and forward as if we're them old time couples .
She begins to laugh and I couldn't help but to join in .
"Amber." I said .
"Hm."
"You're getting fat." I chuckled as I poked her belly .
She gasped , "I am not." She took that statement to the heart .
"You are. Who you been seeing?" I questioned .
"Nobody." She furrowed her eyebrows at me .
"Umhm."
She didn't say anything else . Normally in these type of conversation , she would swear up and down that she isn't seeing anybody . But what changed ? Why she's being quiet?
"You can tell me anything Amber . It sucks that it feels like you're lying to me ." I said truthfully .
She tighten her grip on my hand . That signaled that she's thinking about something .
I sighed , "Whenever you're ready to talk , I'm here."
She nodded .
"I-" she was instantly interrupted by her cellphone ringing .
"Hello." She answered .
"Wassup wassup." The other voice replied .
Unfortunately her phone was on speaker .
"Shit." She mumbled .
She let go of my hand only to take the phone off speaker .
The crazy thing about it is that the only person who talks like that is Jermaine .
That's how he answers the phone . That's how he speaks daily . I know my fiancé's voice when I hear it .
I just pretended like I didn't pay any mind to it .
"Yes."

"At the park with my sister."
..
I zoned out when I noticed a tall dude staring at me . His complexion was caramel almost lightskin . He was beyond gorgeous .
I would've felt awkward and uncomfortable but I just felt uneasy .
He was playing basketball with a couple of others but he stood out . Mostly because he was looking at me .
I broke the eye contact as I heard Amber say my name .
She giggles, "Yes."
With that being said , she hung up .
"I heard my name." I crossed my arms
"That was just a friend asking who I'm with ." She lied
"Okay."
Arguing with her would be pointless .
"Let's just go get something to eat." She offered
"Alright."
