Rajavel who saw everything unfolding right in front of his eyes stumbled back and plopped on the chair behind him.

The others gasped while Rajavel stared at her with pain in his eyes.

“ Excuse me… “ A nurse came towards them and called out for them.. “ Avungaluku treatment mudinjuruchu.. room ku shift paniyachu.. room no 58.. neenga anga poi pathukonga..”
The family rushed to the room and found Anjali and Kathir waiting outside the room.

Yamuna shook her head in disappointment and left into that room to find Maya asleep on the bed. She sat beside her and caressed her hair kissing her forehead.
Yamuna: Evalo thadava di sona…nan pogala nu.. Adam pudichu anupuniya… ipa paru.. she sobbed while the others stood silently.
By evening Maya was still asleep and Yamuna along with Anjali was staying back at the hospital room while Kathir and Maaran were waiting outside the room. The nurse had informed only two could stay in the room so the family had left, leaving the issues to be discussed later.
Yamuna: Anjali ivunga vishiyam unaku munadiya theriyum ah ?

She huffed and in the meantime they heard a shifting sound from the bed. They found Maya trying to sit up and rushed to her.
Yamuna: Maya Maya onu illa da..padu..
Maya blinked as she looked around to realize her surroundings.
Maya: Athai.. Athai
Yamuna: nan Inga tha da irukan.. nee amaithiya padu…
Maya frowned while her fingers automatically caressed her tummy.
Maya: athai paapa nala iruka illa..
Yamuna had tears in her eyes and looked at Anjali.
Maya: Athai solu paapa ku onu illa la..
Yamuna turned away sobbing, making Maya panic.
Anjali: Maya iru… she stopped her who tried to sit up again… pesama padu Maya..
Maya: Bed ah lift panu..
Anjali: iru..
Maya: ipa vaachu solu Anjali… Enana therila.. romba pain ah irunthuchu… romba bayanta.. please solu doctor enna sonanga….
Anjali: Maya athu... She hesitated.
Maya: Enna ?
Anjali: Sorry Maya baby ku… heart beat illa nu D&C panitanga,..
Anjali expected that she would break down but what happened next scared her. Maya gasped at her with a painful look before she turned rigid without a word and sat there blankly staring. Anjali waited for sometime giving her time to take in what she had said but when she stayed the same she was hell scared. She pressed Maya's palms comfortingly.
Anjali: Maya ethukarathu kastam tha.. ana athuku ipadi irukatha.. Ethachu pesu.. illa aluthuru…
Maya looked at her blankly but did not respond.
Anjali: Athai.. She called Yamuna who was sobbing in the corner.
Yamuna found her in trance and moved to stand beside her. Holding her chin she made her look up at her.
Yamuna: Maya nadanthuthu nadanthuruchu .. ini ethuvum pana mudiyathu… Un kastam enaku puriyuthu…Athai irukan un kuda… Manasu vitu aluthuru ella seri agirum.. She caressed her hair.
Anjali: enna athai.. ethuvum ah pesa matingara.. bayama iruku..
Yamuna: Maya Inga paru di ethachu pesu.. enguluku bayama iruku…
Yamuna waited for her response but in vain Maya stayed silent. Panicking Yamuna tapped on Maya’s cheeks to get a response but started crying when she stayed still.
Yamuna: Mayu.. Mayu ethachu pesu di..
She hugged Maya to her chest and sobbed while caressing her hair.
Anjali stood there with tear filled eyes looking at an unmoving Maya until she noticed her breathing being abnormal. Yamuna was also soon to realize her uneven breath. Pulling away she found Maya struggling to breath and the duo was scared.
Yamuna: Mayu onu illa da.. onu ila.. Inga paru ena paru..
She tried to calm her but her shortage for breath was increasing by each second.
Yamuna: Doctor ah kupdu Anjali..
Anjali quickly ran out of the room and glared at Maaran who was seated along with Kathir in the waiting area before running towards the help desk. Informing them to quickly get the doctor she ran back only to be stopped by restless Maaran.
Maaran: enna Mathini aachu ?
Anjali glared at him and in time the doctor had arrived and left in Maya's room while the trio followed her and stood out of the room
Kathir: ena Anjali Maya ku enna ?
Anjali: Maya mulichuta.. mothal varthai.. papa ku onu illa thena nu kekara..
Maaran: solitingala ?
Anjali: vera enna Sola solaringa.. Maraikara vishiyam ah ithu..
Kathir: Enachu aluthutu irukala ?
Anjali: alutha kuda paravalaga.. bramai pudicha mari ukanthu iruntha.. Pesa veika nanum athaiyum evalovo try panom.. ana oru varthai kuda pesala.. thidirunu moochu thenara arambichuta..
Kathir: enna solara…
Maaran stumbled back against the wall while his tears drenched his cheeks.
Anjali: ipa aluthu enna use…
Kathir: Anjali.. enna solitu nee enna panra…
Anjali: Maya va apdi paka mudila nga..
Kathir: Apa avunuku epadi irukunu yosi… amaithiya iru..
Anjali: Sorry.

Maaran shook his head: Ava ala mata mathini… China China vishiyathuku kuda aluthuruva ana Avala romba pathikara vishiyathuku Ava aluthu oru thadava kuda nan pathathu illa.. ulu kulaya vechu kasta paduvala thavara ala mata..
Anjali: ipa athu nala tha ipadi irukala…
Maaran nodded and the doctor came out in time.
Maaran: Doctor is she ok enna aachu ?
“ She is ok now.. by the way avungaluku ithuku munadi panic attack vanthu iruka ? “
Maaran: illa vanthatha illa.
“ Oh.. So this is her first time.. romba shocking ana vishiyam ketathu.. she could not control her emotions and that let to panic attack “
Anjali: athu nala ethachu problem ah ?
“ Onu ila.. I have given her sedation.. let her rest.. appuram pakalam.. “
Maaran looked at Maya through the slightly opened door who was sleeping with the efforts of medicine while Yamuna sat beside her with a worried face. He felt his heart being stabbed, how the hell was he going to face her when she woke up. Kathir patted his shoulders and took him back to the waiting area while Anjali went back to the room.
Maaran peeked into the room and found Yamuna and Maya asleep. Anjali and Kathir had left a couple of hours earlier as only two were allowed to stay at night. Maya was still asleep out of sedation and he stayed out of the room not wanting to disturb. He watched Yamuna asleep and slowly walked and sat on a chair near the bed. He gently took her palms and held in his and sat there staring at her. He pulled back the tears that threatened to fall and caressed her tummy kissing the back of her palms.
Maaran: nee aluga Matanu theriyum di.. ana ipadi unakava kasta paduthikatha.. thappu enodathu.. sorry Maya really sorry… nan etho china thapu pana mari sorry ketutu iruka..
He quickly wiped off the tears when he felt a palms on his shoulders.
Maaran: Thoongalaya ma…
Yamuna: atha nan kekanum da..
Maaran sighed and looked at Maya with pain in his eyes.
Maaran: epadi ma thookam varum… nan ah enga kolanthaiya tholachutan ma..
Yamuna sighed and calmed herself before she comforted him. She was of course disappointed with him but still she knew it was a huge loss for him too. She did not want to show her disappointment and bother him, so she stayed calm.

Yamuna was taken aback when he hugged her and she felt her saree getting wet. She hugged him and patted his back. She let him cry for sometime before pulling back and cupping his face.
Yamuna: Alatha da nee the avuluku thonai ah irukanum…
Maaran shook his head: ava en mogathula kuda mulika mata ma..

Maaran: enaikuma aval nan vitra matan ma… Ava tha ma enaku ellama…
Yamuna: itha tha avulum sona.. oruthara oruthar ivalo kadhalichutu apram yen enga kita marachinga.. ethuku theva illama kalyanam nadakam ella…
Maaran just stayed numb, none of his explanation would solve the pain they had given to their family.
Yamuna: ithu ella enaku epadi theriyunu thena yosikara..
Maaran nodded and Yamuna explained about everything that had happened.
Maaran: Sorry ma.. unga kita ella maraikanum nu enaku ennam illa..

Maaran nodded and Yamuna moved back to lay on the bed. She looked at Maaran holding Maya's hands secured and prayed for them soon reunite.

Yamuna walked out of the washroom and found Maya laying on the bed wide awake. She quickly ran to her and sat beside her.
Yamuna: Maya…
She tilted her head and looked at her but maintained her silence.
Yamuna: elunthona kuptu irukalam illa..
Yamuna sighed when she was silent and caressed her head.
Yamuna: ethachu pesu da….
Maya: Anjali suma thena sona.. paapa ku onum illa thena… She was well aware that was the truth. She had even started feeling the emptiness in her but still she wanted the assurance of everything being a dream.
Yamuna fought back tears and shook her negatively.
Yamuna: Inga paru thango…Namaku intha kolanthaiku kuduthu veikala… ithoda ella mudinjuthunu illa da.. unaku valika kudathunu nan solala.. ana atha unakulaya vechukatha da.. pesu thitu alu.. ana ipadi irukatha..
Maya looked away staring while Yamuna waited for sometime before she sighed.
Yamuna: Ipadi irukatha di bayama iruku..
Yamuna wiped her tears when Maya stayed unmoved before she heard a knock on the door and opened it for the doctor.
Doctor: marubadiyum breath pana struggle panangala ?
Yamuna: illa doctor ipa tha eluntha..
Doctor: oh ok..
The nurse raised the bed and the doctor started checking her.
Yamuna: ethuvum ah pesa matingara doctor bayama iruku..
Doctor: Kolantha mela romba ishtam ah irunthu irukanga.. ipa takunu illa nathu shocking ah irukum.. oru oruthar vera vera mari emotions veli paduthuvanga.. avunga amaithiya irukanga.. she has to herself fight out of it ana unga ellaroda help uh venum.. rendu nalaiku disturb panathinga.. apram pechu kuduthuta irunga.... ana athuku apram uh apdiya iruntha she might need therapy.
Maaran: Therapy ah ? Maaran who came into the room questioned.
“ compulsory illa.. just if she is the same for more than a week.. “
Maaran: vera entha problem uh illa la..
“ No, there is no problem.. She is weak both physically and mentally… it might take time.. but she will be fine “
Yamuna: Ava seri ana pothum doctor… Avuluku sapda enna kuduka ?
“ Food nurse kudupanga.. atha matum kudunga.. “
Yamuna nodded and once the doctor left Maaran informed that he would bring food for Yamuna and left the room not before looking at Maya who was looking away in trance.
Maaran returned back to find Yamuna wiping Maya’s face with a wet towel. Placing the parcel away he moved forward to stand beside Maya.
Maaran: Paapa so…
Maya jerked away and held Yamuna's arms still in trance when she heard him.
Maaran: Yazh..
He noticed her attaching herself more to Yamuna when he tried to speak. His heart shattered into pieces when he watched her clinging to Yamuna like a child.
Yamuna: onu illa Maya onu illa.. she hugged her and rubbed her back when she noticed her struggling to breath.
Yamuna looked up at Maaran who stood there with welled up eyes. Yamuna shook her head and signaled him to wait outside. Maaran walked out of the room with tears and watched her calming in Yamuna's embrace after a long struggle.
