Chaeyoung speeds his car as he is already late to pick up Mina after dropping Sana off at her place just now. "What the hell, Seoul has a lot of traffic," he growls, feeling impatient. The surge of nervousness hits him, thinking that Mina could be sulking now because he's coming late for her.
30 minutes pass, and he finally arrives at Mina's office building. He licks his dry lips, looking at Mina who is now stamping her foot and her face tightens while walking to his car.
"Where have you been, Chaeng? I've been waiting for 30 minutes already," her voice stern, and her gaze filled with annoyance.
"I'm sorry, babe. I got stuck in traffic," his voice pleads as he looks at her.
"Weird, this is the first time the traffic suddenly got beef with you, making you late for me," she replies with a cold tone, her pout visible.
Chaeyoung feels a knot in his stomach, but he tries to chase away the nervousness. "Stop pouting, baby. I'm sorry, okay? I also had no idea why the traffic got so jealous of me today," he attempts to act mischievously.
Mina sighs. "Fine.. but where's my kiss?" she says demandingly.
Chaeyoung chuckles and gives a light peck on her lips. "Can you forgive me now?" he brushes his nose against hers.
Mina knows that she can't sulk too long, not when Chaeyoung keeps easily making her fall for him again. "Okay, I forgive you.. but no more being late after this, promise?"
"I promise, my future wife," Chaeyoung winks.
Mina's eyes widen in surprise, unexpected that Chaeyoung would call her that for the first time ever. Her feelings right now are exactly the same as when she first heard Chaeyoung call her 'babe' back then. She couldn't hide her wide smile and rosy cheeks anymore.
"Babe, your face is reddening, I wonder why," Chaeyoung mischievously says.
Mina finally lets out her laughter, feeling defeated by Chaeyoung's playful yet sweet demeanor. His eyes gleam at her. "Seriously.. stop it, don't stare at me like that," her voice layered with laughter as she softly slaps Chaeyoung's face away from her.
She takes a deep breath just to wash away the sensation that tickles her inner self, but somehow something catches her attention. "Do you smell this, babe? It smells like some aroma from perfume," she says.
Chaeyoung is bewildered, flashing back that Sana sprayed her perfume before, maybe leaving the lingering scent in his car. But knowing that Mina has no idea about Sana, he tries to act innocent. "What smell, babe? I didn't smell anything," he pretends to sniff the air.
Mina sighs while trying to take another breath, and she is not mistaken, the smell really strikes right into her nose. "Chaeyoung, don't act innocent, I really can smell the scent.. it's like a girl's perfume but this is not mine.. did you bring another girl into your car, Son Chaeyoung?" Mina sternly asks, her heart already feeling a bit of sting.
Chaeyoung suddenly chuckles. Mina's annoyance grows looking at her boyfriend looking so silly when her heart is already burning. "Why are you smiling, Son Chaeyoung? I'm asking you, and I need an answer, not your smile," she grimaces.
"Babe.. I think I know where the smell comes from," he calmly says. His hand stretches to the back seat, grabbing something. "I think it comes from... this," he shoves a bouquet of fresh flowers in front of Mina. "Happy first anniversary, Myoui Mina."
"Yaa!! What is this?" Mina's jaw gawks in disbelief, and she bursts into melodic giggles. Her hands tremble with excitement as she accepts the bouquet from Chaeyoung's hand. The atmosphere now becomes light and airy.
"Do you like it, Mina-yaa?" Laughter bubbles up within Chaeyoung as he looks at his girlfriend brightly happy.
Mina's heart flutters right now, she says, "Of course, I like it, Chaeng.. I didn't expect this at all," gummy smile beginning to spill over her face as she feels overwhelmed.
Chaeyoung's face scrunches up as he gives a big, toothy smile and says, "I'm sorry that I made you overthink.. Come here," he pulls Mina into his embrace, gently rubbing her back and kissing the crown of her head. "I love you, Mina-yaa."
Mina is already nestled in the warm hug. "I love you more, Chaeyoung," she utters. "Happy anniversary too, babe," her voice softened with a tender melody when expressing her affection.
After a while, they break the hug and exchange a romantic kiss on each other's lips. With every shared laugh and love, Chaeyoung starts to drive the car, heading back to their apartment.
Mina couldn't help but cherish the bouquet that Chaeyoung surprised her with. Her eyes beaming with a lot of happiness while she sniffs the fresh scent of the flower. In the midst of her excitement, she notices that the flower slightly smells different from the scent that she smelled before.
But as she's thinking back about it, she finally realizes that she has smelled the exact scent one someone and somewhere else, but she doesn't remember who and where, the hint seems like not coming through her mind. She averts her gaze to Chaeyoung, her lips twitch strangely, but she decides to brush her thought away, not wanting to ruin their lovey-dovey mood over useless things.
As they step into their apartment, Mina gawks in surprise once again, looking at their living room now already filled with love-shaped balloons scattered on the floor, and the alphabet balloons with "I LOVE YOU" hanging across the wall.
Mina's heart flutters, "Chaeng, what's with all this? Did you make all of this?" her voice indeed relaying in glee. Her eyes now even glistening, diamond tears of happiness start hanging at the corner of her beautiful eyes.
Chaeyoung looks at his dumbfounded girlfriend, he grins. "Mmm.. I made all of this for you, Mina-yaa.. Happy anniversary once again, babe," overflowing with happiness, his chuckles echo pure joy.
He then clears his throat and reaches for her hand. He suddenly lets out a deep confession to the person that he loves the most, "Let me make a little confession, Myoui Mina..Please know that all of these things are nothing to pay for the love that you have given to me, for every care and affection you have showered me, for every single comforting word you have told me, for your unwavering support that always holds me strong and for every little thing you have done that never fails to make me feel so much in love with you all over again..Thank you so much for saying yes to me the day I confess to you. I love you unconditionally, Mina-yaa." He mirrors Mina's happy expression, A soft sigh escapes his lips, carrying the weight of his affection.
Mina is touched by Chaeyoung's effort and heartfelt wishes that make her diamond tears fail to not burst. She is speechless for a moment about what to say and cups his cheeks. "I'm so grateful for you, Son Chaeyoung and don't have to pay anything to me. I'm sincerely loving you and all I hope is that you will never change..I hope your love for me will never fade away, will you promise me to always be true to me and yourself, Chaeyoung..don't ever let anyone else come into our relationship" her voice holds a tender warmth and hope.
"I promise you, Mina-yaa, and I'd rather die than let myself hurt you" He can't contain the grin that spreads across his face as he pleads the promise to Mina.
Chaeyoung smirks naughtily as he stands behind Mina when they walk to the sofa but before she sits, with a swoosh motion he pulls Mina to make her turn around and fall into a hug.
Mina is surprised by his sudden gesture and explodes into laughter. "Yaa, what are you doing, Chaeng" her face faintly blushes, her giggles soothingly explode, like a healing melody to Chaeyoung's ears.
"Babe.. I have something for you" he smiles sheepishly before breaking the hug and taking something from his pocket.
A small velvet red case reveals before Mina's eyes. She brings her palm to cover her mouth as her jaw drops. Startled, she looks at the silver necklace with shining white diamond charms in Chaeyoung's hand as he opens the case.
"I have no idea what to give you, but I hope this is worth my efforts to make you happy, babe" He says while trying to sweep back Mina's hair that covers her neck.
Mina's heart pounds and the laughter doesn't leave her, evidence that she's already over the moon. Gently, Chaeyoung hooks the necklace on her neck, and briefly kisses her forehead. "It's perfectly beautiful for the most beautiful angel in my life" Chaeyoung scrunches his nose as he gives a fully dimpled smile to her.
Mina pinches Chaeyoung's nose. "Thank you, Chaeng..You are just so lovely like this necklace," feeling the sparks in her veins. "Wait here" she orders Chaeyoung as she disappears into their room.
Chaeyoung delicately looks around, feeling grateful that his efforts have been noticed and appreciated by Mina. He is now grinning like an idiot, lost in his thoughts, thinking about how Mina keeps making him head over heels for her again.
Mina's pace quickens as she approaches Chaeyoung, "Chaeng, this is for you..Happy anniversary" she shyly says while handing a paper bag to Chaeyoung.
"Uhh ?? I got a gift too?" The paper now passes into Chaeyoung's hand.
Mina in her soft and cutely hesitant voice says "I hope this gift is enough to make you happy, Chaeng"
"I don't need anything else to make me happy, Mina-yaa. Your presence alone already makes me happy. I have all I need and you know nothing else can beat the way that I feel when I'm with you" He says while giving her a warm gaze. His words that genuinely come from his heart are just enough to give Mina a never-ending blushing saga.
"Babe... wait isn't this.." He pauses as he pulls out the purple knitted sweatshirt from the bag. "Oh my god !!! It's beautiful, did you knit this yourself" He hugs the sweatshirt like a little boy who just got a new shirt from their mom.
Mina can't hold her laughter for the umpteenth time seeing how Chaeyoung acts so cute as soon as he looks at the shirt. "You know what? I've been working on this shirt for a week already, Chaeng. Just for you" she flexes.
"I wonder how you can make this masterpiece for me, and I can't deny that you are so gifted, babe. Thank you for all your efforts to make this for me. I appreciate it." Chaeyoung says, his eyes filled with sincerity.
Though he actually knows that Mina has been working up knitting over something, but he's not sure what because every time he comes into the room, Mina straight away hides it from him. He can simply say that he expected it from her but he acted nonchalant just to make Mina's plans happen just the way she wants.
Chaeyoung is caught in an atmosphere that he can't help but reveal the next gift he prepared for Mina. "Now...it's time for you to wait for me" he says, leaving Mina baffled as she can't read what Chaeyoung's next move is when he already slips into his study room.
As soon as Chaeyoung comes back, her eyes can't believe that he's bringing over a big box of new Harry Potter Lego. She makes a small jump like little kids upon seeing that.
"Yeahh, I know you will like this one a lot" Chaeyoung chuckles, looking at his already laughing girlfriend.
"You are so unpredictable, you know that ?? Sometimes I feel confused about what's going on in your mind, Son Chaeyoung" she says as she calms down from the excitement while delicately observing the Lego box. Her gummy smiles didn't leave her pretty face.
"Urghh only god knows how much I love this girl" Chaeyoung muffles under his breath.
"And only god knows how much I fall for you again, Chaeng" Mina replies while giggling. Chaeyoung thought she didn't hear, so he bursts out laughing upon hearing her reply. They are already deeply lost in the black hole of love that they thought would only be the two of them inside it, forever.
The night closes the day, and Mina offers Chaeyoung to cook for dinner since they are already tired to go out. She walks to the kitchen, and Chaeyoung trails behind her, holding tight to her shoulders like a train.
As they step their feet inside the kitchen, Mina opens the fridge. "Oh my god!! Chaengi" she calls for him as soon as she sees what's inside the fridge. Her eyes widen in alarm.
"W-whatt..what is it?" Chaeyoung asks, then he follows Mina's gaze inside the fridge. "Oh god damn it" he curses, his reaction mirroring hers as both of them now stand frozen in front of the almost empty fridge as soon as they look inside it. There's absolutely almost nothing inside it.
"When was the last time we went grocery shopping, babe?" Mina questions while trying to hold in her laugh.
"Well..I think it's already been a month now. But hey, I still have my strawberry here" he takes the last pack of strawberries with only one strawberry inside it.
"Idiot" Mina shakes her head, looking at Chaeyoung's weird demeanor. "I think we still have some ramyeon left inside the cabinet..cool with that?" Mina suggestively asks while laughing, her voice lingering.
Chaeyoung pinches her nose. "I'll eat anything that you eat, Myoui Mina" he winks.
They end up spending the rest of the night watching movies together while eating ramyeon and cuddling until they succumb to peaceful sleep together. Although it's a simple way to celebrate their anniversary, but each other's presents already have a special meaning to them over anything else right now.
