Roman smirked in amusement while Remus laughed at the sight in front of them, yet another magical prank by the Prince twins. Roman and Remus Prince weren't the most popular students attending Hogwarts, but they were infamous. The two frequently got into trouble and mischief, annoying their classmates in the process.
The Gryffindor's mood was only slightly dampened as he overheard the hushed complaints of four students he often took notice of. Even though their classmates occasionally found the twins' antics humorous, they could also be a nuisance and an unwanted distraction to their fellow students. However, the students they seemed to bother the most were Logan Sanders, Patton Baker, Virgil Black, and Janus Blaire. They didn't try to target the group, although Remus did look for Logan's approval at times because of the crush he had on his fellow Ravenclaw; they just all happened to be around when the twins got bored.
Remus never seemed to notice the group's negative opinion of the two; he was always in his own little bubble. "Roman? Can I talk to you?" Patton asked quietly. He seemed a little uncomfortable, likely because he hated confrontation; Roman agreed and followed the boy to a quieter part of the classroom. "Look, you and Remus are super cool, and your pranks are...creative." Roman raised an eyebrow at the hesitation in Patton's voice. "But would you mind toning it down? You guys aren't meant to be using your magic like that anyways."
The twin looked around the classroom, spotting Patton's friends as they watched the two expectantly, waiting for Roman to go along with what the Hufflepuff said. He nodded, but that didn't necessarily mean he would listen to the boy.
A week later, Roman broke his supposed promise, but this time, it was in self-defense. Lord Voldemort and his army attacked Hogwarts searching for Harry Potter, a feat no one would've expected. The group of four boys didn't respect the twins at all because they saw them as immature and untrained spoiled brats that used their wealth and "pureblood" status to get away with everything; they couldn't be farther from the truth. Despite their chaotic nature, the twins were excellent wizards and caring individuals.
Once the Battle of Hogwarts began, Roman and Remus instantly became battleground angels. They went into rescue mode, saving wizards that were falling behind from being attacked, using temporary spells to heal minor wounds, and leading those that were low on energy or heavily injured to seek refuge inside the castle.
Roman looked around the field, noticing that they were all being overpowered by Voldemort's army; this would all lead down to whether or not Harry Potter could defeat the Dark Lord himself. The twins had already gotten most of the wizards inside the castle, so they were now retreating as well.
The Gryffindor and Ravenclaw stopped, however, as they spotted the four boys they'd come to take a liking to fail to defend themselves against a strong Death Eater. Roman and Remus rushed over to them, the latter using the stunning spell to block another attack. The Gryffindor student scanned the four boys, noticing that Logan was severely injured, and Patton desperately tried to aid him. Roman began helping Patton drag Logan inside, with Janus and Virgil following. The Gryffindor paused as he noticed his brother staying put and looking around. "Remus, what are you doing? We have to get inside."
Remus quickly casts the disillusionment charm on the five students just before a group of Death Eaters surrounded the Ravenclaw. "What do we have here, Bela?" One of the Death Eaters asked smoothly as he stared down Remus. Bela, the wizard Remus had struck down just moments before, stood up and glared at the teenage boy. "A worthless boy, an expendable one at that."
As usual, Remus kept a calm and cocky expression on his face, despite the fear coursing through his veins at the moment. "Aw, and here I thought you were impressed by my abilities." He said in a mockingly sad tone.
The group snickered at the way Bela practically fumed at that. The wizard that was still staring at Remus with a slight smirk let out a chuckle. "You're a cute kid. Too bad we have to kill you." "M-Maybe not just yet, right? I might know things." Remus nervously blurted out, allowing the group to consider the idea.
Roman forced himself and the others to quietly drag Logan back into the castle, trying not to watch as the group grabbed Remus to do who knows what to him. Once inside, the others looked at Roman in shock. "W-Why would he do that?" Janus asked. "To save us, of course. That idiot never knows when to quit. Now stay here; I'll be right back." Roman said confidently, despite his shaky voice.
Virgil followed the Gryffindor back outside, ignoring the protests of his friends to stay where it was safe. The two tried to keep level heads as they heard Remus practically getting tortured. 'We need to move fast.' Roman thought to himself. "Do you want me to use the knockback jinx while you get him?" Virgil whispered. Roman nodded nervously, only focused on getting his brother back.
Roman watched as Virgil cast the knockback jinx; his eyes almost widened at how powerful the spell was as the whole group of wizards surrounding Remus flew back. He never knew the quiet boy was that talented and felt slightly proud of him. As soon as the Death Eaters flew back, Roman ran into the courtyard, grabbed Remus, and dragged him back into the castle. He was thankful Virgil was there to block off any attacks and seal the entrance from any intruders.
The Gryffindor laid his now unconscious brother on the ground, surveying the damage. "I-I don't see anything, do you?" Virgil reluctantly nodded and pointed to the rips at the bottom of Remus's sweater. Roman carefully pulled the fabric away, flinching back at the sight of his brother's abdomen covered in cuts and blood. "Come on; the nurses can help patch him up," Virgil said with a shaky voice.
They safely got Remus to the Great Hall, where most of the wizards and nurses were, tiredly laying him down beside Logan. Patton and Janus watched in shock, eyeing Remus's body nervously. "Is he..." Patton trailed off.
Virgil shook his head. "No, but I think he's running low on blood." "Why would he do that?" Janus asked softly, repeating his disbelieving question from before. Roman looked at the Slytherin with confusion. "What do you mean?" Janus sighed. "I mean, why would he, or even you, try to even help us like that? I thought you didn't like us."
Roman looked over at Remus, nurses quickly bandaging him up and finding other injuries on his body. "We've never disliked you guys. Actually, you guys are Remus's favorite people." He said with a sad chuckle, turning to face the three boys in front of him. "Besides, he's always been like that. He acts goofy and out of control most of the time, but when it's serious, he's the strongest and most selfless person I know." He trailed off, watching his brother and hoping everything would turn out okay.

After the Battle of Hogwarts, which Harry Potter thankfully won, Roman spent most of his time in the hospital wing visiting Remus, who had yet to wake up. The others decided to visit, albeit a bit nervously.
"Hey, is he doing better?" Virgil asked, breaking the silence and causing Roman to jump slightly in surprise. "Uh, yeah. The cuts are still going to be there for a while, but it should be manageable enough for him."
Logan shyly walked closer to Roman, not used to showing much emotion. "I was told he put himself in the way of danger so I could receive medical attention quicker." Roman nodded with a small smile. He knew Remus had a crush on his fellow Ravenclaw, that being the reason he bothered him so much and why he sacrificed himself for the boy.
"I came to say thank you, but I suppose that's a bit useless now that I'm aware he still has yet to wake up." "If I knew you were coming, I would've woken up sooner," Remus said in a rough voice from his spot on the bed. All eyes went to him, his brother immediately rushing to his side. "Are you okay? What happened?"
Remus ignored the question and stared curiously at the black and blue sweater in Logan's hand. The intelligent boy blushed and handed the sweater to Remus. "Um, your sweater was ruined in the battle, and this one always brings me comfort, so I figured you might enjoy it."
The other four boys in the room left the two to a separate conversation and walked together out of the hospital wing. "Some of the spells and potions you and Remus were using are extremely advanced. We haven't even covered most of them in class yet." Virgil pointed out. Roman smirked proudly. "What? You guys didn't expect us to be smart?"
When the other three students were silent, Roman chuckled and rolled his eyes. "You all were upset that Remus and I use our magic outside of class, right? It annoys you? Well, why do you think we do that?" "To take time away in class because it's boring?" Janus answered sarcastically. "No, it's so we can practice. We always use our magic so we can be the best. As for the healing potions, Remus specializes in those because we get hurt so often. He's studied almost every book in the library, looking for ways to fix the effects of whatever charm, spell, or potion we decide to use at any time. He's a Ravenclaw for a reason." He finished with a shrug.
Patton sighed guiltily. "I'm sorry we judged you so harshly. But you guys do need to understand that some of us are trying to train in class. We haven't learned some stuff yet." Roman nodded. "Okay, how about this? I can help you guys learn the material faster, and we'll try not to pull our pranks as much. But only if you guys start teaching me stuff about the muggle world."
Virgil chuckled. "That's it? You just want to know about muggles?" Roman nodded excitedly. Patton hummed with a smile, then nodded. "Okay, deal. To start, do you know what rubber ducks are?"
